Henlopen Oceanfront Hotel - Featured Reviews (694)
We recently stayed for a holiday weekend with our family and toddler.
Our stay was, to say the least, unsatisfactory. The worst part was the sight of live bats in the morning on the way to the elevator that we had to walk under to get out. The cleanliness of the room was so poor, with dust balls, sand, and all sorts of debris in floors in the room. Not only unsanitary for us, but for our daughter in the room. The pack and play hadn’t been cleaned, so we cleaned it ourselves. The lobby, or lack there of, is not welcoming for its guests. Location was excellent- right on the beach and next to walkable business.
Would not recommend to friends and family. Nice location, easy walk out to the beach at it’s located at the end of the boardwalk away from noise and business. However, There was sand in our sheets when we turned them down for the night. Floors weren’t clean. Phone in room didn’t work, told the front desk and nothing was done. Shower is either very hot or cold, no way to regulate it. Parking is a nightmare. They have an underground garage but it’s for the condo members, the parking for hotel guests is very limited and has extremely small spots and concrete pillars making it nearly impossible to park anything mid to large size if you don’t get one of the few big spots. No breakfast of any kind, just a coffee dispenser machine in the lobby. For close to $800 for 2 nights, I expected better quality. Whomever their PR person, they did a great job with the photos. Our room and amenities look nothing like what we saw online.
It was a perfect 3 day getaway for my wife and I. Parking was fine, front desk service was great, always extremely helpful. Room was clean and updated with a good view of the ocean. Location was great, we parked our vehicle and didn't move it until we checked out. Easy access to the beach, short walks to all the bars and restaurants via boardwalk.
We will definitely be back.
Also, free coffee all the time.
This hotel is in a great location at the very end of the boardwalk steps from the beach and has free parking underneath. It is a bit on the older side, but our room was clean and functional with basic amenities including a double sink, refrigerator (no freezer), and microwave. We had a good ocean view from our balcony on the 5th floor and did not pay for an upgrade. Staff was always friendly and polite and the cleaners were prompt and in rooms by 9 am each day. The price is high but it’s expected in a beach town in the summer (and it was lower than some of the neighboring hotels). The big thing lacking for us was a hotel restaurant or coffee shop as we had to walk down to the Rehoboth Avenue area for coffee and breakfast each day.
The hotel rooms look nothing like the pictures. We arrived to a filthy hotel room that smelled like urine and there was dirt and sand all over the floor. We also found a blue pill on the ground (pretty sure it was viagra) and dirty tissues in the drawer. We asked for housekeeping to clean the room again and when we came back it had not been cleaned any further. Also there was mold/grime in the shower and the water pressure was awful. Also, the walls are very thin and we were woken up at 7am each morning by our neighbors who we could hear their entire conversation. The location of this hotel was great and has direct beach access. Also everywhere else was booked this weekend, so we did stay for our 2 nights but will not be back. Overall it was extremely overpriced for the state of the hotel and how dirty it was.
First of all, beware of the deceiving pictures of the rooms on the website. It looks huge and immaculate online, and when you get there it’s literally half of what they show. The rooms do not have a bolt lock, only a latch you flip to the other side and the housekeeping will try to bust through the door at any time. The bathtub drain is rusty and disgusting. The beds had sand in them. I wouldn’t trust the railings on the balcony if you have small children. Holes in the walls were covered up but you could still see them. Not to mention we were called on the phone by the hotel about a water leak coming from our bathtub down into the room below us. Instead of offering us a room to move too while they resolved the issue, they continued to let maintenance come in and out of our room form 3am-5am and the whole entire next day!!! They called us every time we ran water in the shower or tub and made us turn it off because of the leak. They let our room door wide open while trying to figure out the issue. Meanwhile, they couldn’t fix it, and decided they had to tear a wall down to get to the issue. After we decided we had enough and packed up to leave a day early because of this, the assistant manager who is less than pleasant, refused to give us a refund for the entire night!! He actually gave us less than half of what a night cost!!! After he allowed them to come in and out and disrupt our vacation, he didn’t want to work with us and give us the refund we deserved. I will never stay here again and will be contacting the General Manager of this hotel.
Location is perfect- at the beach in seconds and on the end of the boardwalk. Room met our expectations and the bedding was great. A/C broke and they had it replaced within the hour. The room could have been cleaner on arrival and a better morning coffee set up would have been welcome
Stayed for one night in August. What a perfect quick stay! Fantastic location, right on the boardwalk. Can't get more comfortable and clean. The front desk was welcoming and willing to help. Would and will stay again!

The owners are so kind and accommodating. We always plan a stop every time we visit Dewey. The fresh, made to order donuts are a highlight. Make a point to go here. You will be glad you did.
I love Towers Beach. Easy parking. Clean, sizeable beach. Life guards on duty. Showers on premise. No boardwalk noise. Just families, sand and ocean. Bring your own food and drinks. Budget friendly family spot.
Transport yourself to the south of France just off the boardwalk in Rehoboth! Fantastic yet simple menu, with a modest but well thought wine list. Our party of 4enjoyed the escargot, cheese and charcuterie plate, steak frites (minus the frites, c'es
