Wow! Wish we could give this place 10 stars. The people who run this are a wealth of knowledge and give a tour full of pride and excitement for the house and its history. The preservation that has been done here is nothing short of amazing. Learning about the deep American history of this house and family was so interesting. We got to meet and receive a tour from two of the people who put so much time and effort into this place and they were excited to answer all of our questions and even stayed open a half hour after closing just to make sure we got to see everything. No pictures allowed; once you see the amazing history this place contains you can understand why. We appreciate the care they paid to preserving the house and artifacts while also allowing us to get very close to everything. The tour was worth triple what they charge. Can’t wait to go back someday!
It was the 1st every River Road Music Fest. Great location, beautiful venue. They did state they needed better organization, and I'll agree. VIP tickets were extremely affordable and was really nice how they furnished camp chairs to sit closer to the stage. Normally, VIP tent and parking are generally closer, I had a boot and the walk from the parking was a bit rough. There was confusion with how to get our 2 free drinks, after I purchased a 5 wine voucher and 1.50 cup of water! Yikes, but really overall a good time, hopefully they do it again and practice makes perfect! 🥰
If you love history you must stop here at this awesome "piece of American history". George Washington was married to a Henderson and their family was involved in the early years of us gaining independence from England and the formulation of country that was free from religious persecution, high taxation, arrest without a warrant, etc, etc. The mansion is full of everything that the Henderson's saved over the years, and they threw out nothing. It's such a time capsule. And the school room! Wow, wait until you see it! There is so much more including a wonderful tour by one of the volunteers. Today it was Norm and Judy. Most wonderful, informational guides! Free parking. It costs $10 for the charity per person. Well worth it. Plan on spending two hours here. Pack a picnic and eat under the pavilion near the parking. We plan on going back a second time.
It was suppose to be open, but alot of things were caution taped. We didn't go into the building, just disappointed we drove all that way and couldn't get the opportunity to see a historical place. Heard it was suppose to be a really nice place to visit.
I took Emillie and Andrew to tour Henderson Hall today. They both were impressed with the museum and the history behind it. I wish they allowed you to take pictures , but they do not. Then, afterward, we had lunch at Emperal Buffet in Marietta, Ohio, then home to cool off in the pool. Was a good day.
I never knew how much I would learn while taking this tour. At first I thought the $15 entry fee was steep, but based on my experience and how much I actually learned. It was well worth it. Apparently George Washington was good friends with the Henderson family.
Enjoyed exploring the Victorian home. Everything kept to period of time. Friendly staff.
The staff working at this museum are absolutely lovely. Everything there is authentic and in wonderful condition. I highly recommend giving this museum a look.
