We stayed 2 nights at the Castle… what a wonderful experience!!! This hidden gem in Michigan needs to be advertised everywhere so others can enjoy what we did. The food was 5 star. Everything was clean, albeit worn… but it is a real castle!!! Justin and Kendra were gracious and attentive. Thanks guys. The only complaints we have is that, in the Kings Tower room, the shower floor can be slippery and the hot and cold pipes are reversed. A simple label on them would alleviate this. We DO recommend this place to everyone!!!
Very unique and memorable stay! The historical ambience is unmatched. Stay here if you are looking for an interesting alternative to the standard hotel options. Do not stay here if you're looking for a standard hotel experience with perfect flooring and bathrooms, because everything is either original or retrofitted. It's amazing that this is available to the public. The food in the hotel restaurant is also delicious! The wine tasting was good as well. Thank you to Francois for making this possible!
Very nice place. The grounds were beautiful. But it does need some attention. It could be a wonderful place to stay, unfortunately it is a bit run down. We stayed in one of the rooms in the cabin. The refrigerator was really dirty. They said they would clean it but they never did. One of the beds squeaked like crazy. It felt like it should fall apart every time you moved. It is also accross from a cemetery, didn't realize until the morning.
The other surprise were all the add on fees, $4.95 credit card surcharge, City accommodation $5.81, Covid recovery $18.00, Historical Preservation fee $18.00, Resort fee 18.00
non of these fees were mentioned upfront.
The grounds were very pretty and the staff was very nice... but I don't know if I would stay there again. Thee fees were really a surprise, they should be upfront with them from the beginning :(
I surprised my daughter for an overnight trip to the castle. It is about 2.5 hrs away. It was a wonderful experience, and one we will always remember. We were greeted and treated like royalty throughout! Thanks to Justin and Drakkar for going above and beyond to make sure our visit was absolutely perfect! Everyone was so welcoming! The dining experience and food were 5 star! Made some new friends too! We can't thank you enough, it was magical!...we will be back for sure!
My husband and I chose to stay here after seeing all the great pictures online and it did not disappoint! We were amazed with how beautiful everything was, every room was so unique and it truly felt like you were staying in a castle. The complimentary breakfast was very nice and the dinner was even better. We enjoyed using the hot tub and wished we had booked a spa session! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in the area
We have stayed at Henderson Castle a number of times now and it is always top tier! The professionalism and accommodations by the staff are impeccable as are the amazing historic grounds. The themes of the rooms are fantastic (we have an our favorites), and the ambiance that is created is beyond reproach each and every time.
The food is beyond fantastic! To get a five-star quality meal in Kalamazoo, MI is a treat onto itself, but each and every meal is simply stunning.
The absolute BEST place to stay when visiting Kalamazoo or just to get away for a few days. I cannot recommend it enough!
All the staff at Henderson Castle were very friendly, stayed In the Italian room . The place was clean ,yes there was some some staining on the ceilings and not everything's perfect but I expect that and the place is very old if I wanted something common and boring I would stay in town at a commercialized hotel chain , I stayed here because it's haunted and it truly is , to get good results take good equipment and put the effort in . Had dinner there I thought the food to be a bit pricey, had drinks as well , the waitress (can't remember her name ) was awesome . Drove two and a half hours to get there and was not disappointed. I will definitely stay there again . It's cozy , romantic, and you can feel the energy there and it's very intense . I recommend a cheaper menu addition for people that want to have some drinks and eat lightly like just a burger or some appetizers that aren't so extravagant, the chef has passion for his food no doubt about that , and that's understandable he is a renowned chef .Thank you to Henderson Castle and the amazing staff for a wonderful memory .
I have driven past this place a million times and finally bought the Groupon for a couples massage, high tea, and a tour. The massage was very nice, and the hot tub on the roof is so cool! The staircase to the hot tub is a little narrow and steep but it's all part of the castle! The tour guide was great and told us so much about the place. High tea was great with really desserts and a sandwich. I am very pleased with my trip there and would highly recommend it!
