What an amazing little place! Especially if you like history! The workers were extremely knowledgeable about the artifacts in the room. Very neat experience!

Do not miss the opportunity to experience the history in a lovely setting! We took the ferry from SF and it was just a short walk in Jack London Square to reach our destination. We appreciated being about to bring in food to enjoy with our drinks! Do not miss the one!

Quirky, kooky little waterside bar with an unexpectedly interesting history. Good selection of craft beers, and their bloody mary is pretty excellent.

We went in for drinks and enjoyed the atmosphere and history! I really enjoyed that the bartender was very knowledgeable on the history of the bar and the area. It was so cool to hear the stories about the bar. The drinks were fantastic, I had a Moscow mule. Definitely recommend a visit if you like local American history and good drinks!

The building survived the 1906 earthquake and still retains much of its original character. One of the most famous patrons of Heinold's was author Jack London. He would go there to study and write. The tilted floors are said to have inspired the crooked gambling house described in London's short story "The Golden Poppy." Heinold's is a designated Oakland local landmark and is also on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
