Heidi's Pies Restaurant - American restaurant in San Mateo - 1941 S El Camino Real, USA

Breakfast at Heidi’s Pies Restauran, American style food, was ok. We had country fried steak with sweet potatoes pancake and fish and chips.

[see update below] Been going here for years if infrequently (I live on the other side of the Bay). GREAT sandwiches, HOT fries, WONDERFUL pies. Friendly old diner atmosphere, great staff, AND FREE PARKING - yes they have a parking lot. We split a sandwich - they served each half on separate plates with the fries, and the berry pie. Really nice filling, and the crust is crumbly delicious. Sad to say they are no longer 24 hours. We just went there today by habit but got there after 5 pm and were crushed. Next time we will know better. Hopefully we can get them busy enough to extend their daytime hours into the evening on Mondays and Tuesdays.

My friend and I bought a APPLE PIE and added some VANILLA ICE CREAM to the pie. Extremely Delicious, highly recommend.

An old style place for a cup of coffee and pie. There were some fun choices and we chose: blueberry with sour cream, chocolate cream, boysenberry a la mode and a strawberry pie. All were pretty tasty. The service was nice and welcoming.

A great little diner with a nice selection of good food. The portions were big and the prices were reasonable. Our server was very friendly and attentive. That had a huge selection of pies, but we were traveling and could not take any with us. I would go back again.

I mainly come here with my friends when they crave for the pies. The parking lot is reserved for the customers, so no worry for the parking. The restaurant is pretty clean inside. The staff is courteous. The wait time is reasonable. I haven't tried all the pies yet. So far, I've found the blueberry sour cream pie most unique. Unlike the common blueberry sour cream pies out there, Heidi's version has no top crust. The sour cream is spread on top of the blueberries (instead of mixing them together), exposing some berries. Also, there is layer of custard underneath the blueberries. My friends like it, but I prefer the usual version because I'm not a big custard fan. Some other pies I've tried are all right. I think with the prices they charge, I would go for pies from a bakery/supermarket, or bake it at home.

First timer at Heidi's here, looks like a classic American diner. You seat yourself and the nice server brings out a completely wet menu. I order a country fried steak, eggs, pancakes and a slice of blueberry pie with sour cream which she noted was their best seller. Cup of coffee was $3.30 so it's best to get it filled many times. I liked that they provided good whole milk for the coffee. The big breakfast platter was pretty good but the pie slice $7 left me disappointed. It is a pre made dough and filling and not to mention very little of it. Wasn't too bad but definitely not homemade with love and care. Otherwise the server very nice.

Good food, good people, quick service. Plain and simple diner food with good pies. I came here because I heard their pies are legendary, umm I thought they are good, may be not the best I had. But then again I only had banana cream pie. Also had the patty melt, delightfully delicious.
