An excellent and affordable place to stay in the Adirondacks. Second time coming here. This time I stay five days skiing and working remotely (Martina's room has a nice desk). As someone who has stayed in over 50 hostels, I really appreciate having a place like Heads in Beds here. Expect very basic amenities but you get your own room which is not true at most hostels. The owner John is very nice. Location can't be beat.
I came to Heads in Beds this past summer and had a great experience. Having stayed in hostels before, I can say that my stay was much more comfortable and pleasant than the standard: The bedroom and bathroom were spotless. Also, the owners are friendly and honest people. They were very accommodating in regards to my check in/check out time and were kind enough to mail back to me a couple articles of clothing that I'd forgotten in the room. As an added bonus, there were some cheap and delicious bars/eateries a short walk away. Next time I'm in the area, I hope to stay here!
John the owner is a super nice guy. I stayed here 3 nights and would love to come back. I left each morning for a conference in the area and returned late at night, so I didn't see anyone else, nor did I see the town much. But they were exactly what I needed. Amenities are limited, but they're very upfront about what they have (heads & beds) and there's no surprises. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend.
I enjoyed my stay a lot, my room was very comfortable and quiet.
The location of this property is great.
Owner John was very helpful.
I will definitely will be back to visit again this charming house.
My cousin and I, both diehard skiers in our 50's, had a two night stay to take advantage of the great conditions at Gore Mountain. All we were looking for were clean, comfortable beds along with a good hot shower. Heads in Beds was all of that!. While the other rooms offered more, we took the simple four person bunk room which fit our needs well. Nice shared clean bathroom with a separate tub and shower and beautiful wood floors. Open, common sitting area with maps and other Adirondack material, coffer maker, and small TV and frig. Great location as it is five minutes to Gore Mountain and two minutes to center of North Creek; TOPS grocery store for beer and cookies, BarVino for dinner, and breakfast at Marsha's. Very friendly proprietors and a price that left money for food, drinks, and skiing!
This is the 4th year (2017) we have stayed with John and Judy during ski season. We are seniors and only ski and stay mid-week when slopes are less crowded. Heads in Beds is perfect for our limited needs. The common area is cozy and has a TV, microwave, coffee pot, and small frig. There is a jar of the most delicious cookies you ever tasted. We often eat our breakfast at the mountain rather than going into North Creek as it is much quicker. We have even made instant oatmeal and coffee in the common area. The bedrooms are roomy and comfortable. There is one with 2 queen beds and a sink suitable for brushing teeth,& washing up. There is also a small desk and a dresser & mirror. There is another large bedroom with a queen bed and a dresser/mirror and a desk. The 3rd bedroom has 1 single bed and the 4th room has 2 sets of bunkbeds. Until this winter, often we were alone but business has really taken off, The rooms and common bathroom are clean and comfortable. So far sharing a single bathroom has not presented any problems. North Creek is small and most businesses are closed by 5 or 6 pm. There is not a lot of choices of places to eat supper. We often eat by the fireplace in the pub area of the Copperfield Inn on Main St. Sometimes we pick up food at the grocery store and eat in the Common Area of Heads in Beds. This is a wonderfiul, economical place to get a good nights sleep..
My boyfriend and I stayed at Heads in Beds last summer overnight and it was an amazing experience. We loved the quaint house, the privacy of having a single room to ourselves, the vintage claw-foot tub, the comfortable bed in the master room and the hospitality. John was really sweet and welcomed us heartily. I would recommend anyone stay at this hostel.
This hostel is like staying in a bed and breakfast. My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights in Martina's room. The room was comfortable and clean as well as the bathroom and common area. The hostel is walking distance from the town which has a pizza place, wine bar, grocery store, and ice cream shop! We were also just 10 minutes down the road from the place where we did white water rafting. The hostel is also very close to Gore Mt. where we skied in the winter. Lake George is about 20 minutes south making the hostel a central location for all the activities we planned.
Stayed yesterday while hitting GORE. I love this place. The staff is fantastic and goes out of their way to make sure you've got everything you need. Perfectly situated in North Creek. Thanks to the staff! Definitely a Skier friendly spot. I've stay
