Beware of this place. Especially if you book through other platforms. I booked this places expecting to see someone like the pictures. The person who came out to greet us was rude right off the bat. Maybe it's because I'm actually local and not a tourist from th mainland. That being said he acted like we shouldn't be there. This is not a family-friendly place at all. He wanted to go to the very strict rules and informed us we were not allowed to use any of the e amenities that were listed as amenities. That we were to only go to a small portion of the property that had no privacy. When I asked about the pool tables and other amenities he told us he wasn't having “campers trash his stuff” The bathrooms were a 5-minute walk from the sites. The pool had dead frogs to n it and was dirty. They didn't even have doors on them really. They whole place I found offputting. The dead animals on a campsite he didn't seem to concerned about or the dog poop everywhere. After looking for a place to put our setup we just didn't feel comfortable or safe there. I went back to the office to try and talk to him we came across a drunk belligerent guest who was screaming and yelling on his phone cussing. It scared me and my family. I recorded the whole thing just in case he assaulted me. I was afraid of him. The owner responded with a smirk “Well he seems upset he had a bad day” ||It is tragic when people might be to Hawaii and cater to only people not from Hawaii. When they treat locals like we are lesser than them. My family and friends enjoy camping and could have spent the weekend at the Hilton. We wanted to try something new. Never again. I'm writing this review with a heavy heart. We didn't stay. We walked away from the place feeling like has we were mainland tourists that treatment would have been better. ||The pictures are not like the actual place at all and the staff hands down have n business in the hospitality industry. Don't give this place your time. So many better places to go in the area.

The dogs are wonderful (* more below). An absolute gem. Bucolic relaxation with friendly locals. Grand common rooms with table games, pool, and a huge video theater with a wall sized screen. There's a place to exercise and a wraparound porch with coffee service, refrigerator, microwave, and macadamia nut cracker for guest use. The rooms are well kept motel style classic mix and match. Because we were traveling as 4 people but not as 2 couples they sussed out our situation and moved us to a room with three beds which was sweet and appreciated. The solar heated salt water pool has both a slide and a giant tiki. The grounds are inviting and pickable with a nice variety but the macadamia nuts are the star. FRESH MACADAMIA NUTS FROM THE TREE ARE ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING THINGS I HAVE EVER TASTED! *The dogs are friendly and respectful. They love being petted AND THEY ALSO CHASE PIGS. Because it is a farm you are staying at. In Hawaii. And there are pigs. I prefer the dogs and, yes, they did wake me up as they launched off the deck the one time last night. I thought it was quaint and I certainly wouldn't complain SINCE I CHOSE TO STAY ON A FARM IN ONE OF THE MOST REMOTE AREAS OF THE ISLAND! Food is scarce around here so make sure you have your dinner secured before 5PM, yes, FIVE.

I don't know quite what I was expecting here. We knew it wouldn't be a 'resort' in the normal sense of the word and it isn't, but I loved it. Very laid back.|The lady who runs it is charming and the two dogs were great. I particularly like Airedales anyway, so I admit to some bias. They were well behaved and friendly and a firm 'no'(not shouted) when they came inquiring about food was enough so they didn't bother us any further as we sat outside with our noodles, providing us with entertainment as they played together.|Sitting outside with a glass of wine looking up at all the stars was a great way to spend our last night on the big island, definitely a recommended thing to do.|Feeding yourself is a bit of an issue. Past guests have abused the kitchen facilities in the house so you are now restricted to the kettle, coffee machine, microwave etc. up on the veranda and the local diner shut at five on the night we stayed (I think its open a bit later on some other nights so we couldn't eat out, but there is a couple of quite well stocked local stores to get yourself sorted for a night or two. If you are camping here with all your own kit, obviously this won't be any problem.|I rather wish we had stayed here for an extra night and one less in noisy Hilo for visiting the volcanoes etc.

There were two large dogs. We couldn't sleep because the dogs barked loudly while chasing wild pigs in the middle of the night. Since they barked every night, I cannot recommend this hotel to those who prefer a quiet place. The room and the hotel premises were very clean.

Hawaii Island Resort and the owner Kelly Rene are not to be trusted. She took $ 896.52 from me and did not honor her commitment.||I was supposed to stay at Hawaii Island Resort 12/28/23-1/1/24 but due to illness I couldn't make it. I called her before the cancellation period was coming up so I could cancel and get a refund. She said she would call me back but did not. When I called her again, she said it is too late and she will not refund me and that in exchange, when I decide to travel there in the future, I should call her and she would provide me with the accommodations if she had availability. I made plans to go 3/7/24- 3/11/24 and called as she has instructed. At first, she said I never paid for the rental in December and that she has to check her records. I emailed her the confirmation of the credit card transaction in the amount of $ 896.52 and called her 4 times. She would not return my calls. I took a picture of her website on 3/7/2024 which showed she had room available and had even lowered her price ( lower than what I had paid for), but still would not respond to me.||Unfortunately, Hawaii Island Resort and Kelly Rene are not to be trusted. In order to make future travelers aware, I also filed a complaint against this business with BBB.

This is a fantastic place. We stayed one night as a stop point before going to Volcano nation park. It is really a resort, large backyard with Macadamia Nut tree you are free to eat any you pick. The room is large and clean. The host is very nice and friendly, her show us around, introduce the resort and give suggestion about where we should go. The have two cute dogs as well. This place might not look like typical hotel -- no TV or refrigerator in room but host share their big living room with us with huge screen and projector. The have guess refrigerator around kitchen so if you don't mind share with other guess. I would definitely recommend this place to any of my friends. The atmosphere truly shows that this is not a hotel but like a place with friendly host and you will feel like to truly welcome guest.

This rustic, Hawaiian Farm, was an absolute delight. Wander the property, and harvest Macadamia nuts right off the trees, while you make you way to the main house for coffee. If you are looking for a Unique place to stay... this is a hidden gem. The owners are so accommodating and overflowing with local knowledge on places to go and things to see.

Can't say enough great things about this place! We stayed here incidentally after an AirBnB booking fell through, and loved it! Kelly was a very gracious host, and the dogs Astana and Zeus were lovely. Very affordable place with basic lodgings, but the water is hot and the rooms are super clean. There were a bunch of fruit trees and macadamia trees around the property, and we were allowed to eat them if we could pick them. The community spaces are absolutely lovely and give a very cozy vibe. Notably, no TVs in the rooms, but that's probably not why you're in this neck of the woods. Quiet and peaceful location. Highly recommend a stay if you're in the area!
