Just to be clear, they have beer and drinks more than food. Hatchet Jack's is an incredibly fun place to go blow off some steam, and learn a new skill. They have throwing stars now too (fun!)

Love this place, awesome place to come de-stress with your friends and have a few beers. They have party rooms, shuffle board, darts, an arcade, all alongside the main attraction of axe throwing. This location has a bunch of pretty cool staff members ready to help you learn the ropes. Would definitely recommend.

Did not participate but had fun watching. Surprised to see many ladies there throwing. Reservations required. Very helpful employee there to instruct.

We took a trip to a Iowa City for Father’s Day weekend and Hatchet Jacks was on our list of places to go. Wow, we were not disappointed! My wife and I spent an hour and a half chucking axes, enjoying some beverages and having a great time. I would have thought that having a large group might have been to the detriment of the fun factor due to prolonged times between turns but it really seemed that the larger groups were having a ton of fun too. We definitely will be coming back and bringing some friends and family!

A good time was had by all. The staff was quick to offer advice on how to throw the hatchets. They also sell a variety of beer and soda.

Hatchet throwing at a wood target (with advice on form available upon request). What a fun place! We were traveling from the Iowa Irish Fest in Waterloo Iowa, toward Philadelphia. We made sure to stop in Iowa City at Hatchet Jack's. I had only "thrown hawks" in a friend's backyard back in San Diego. He'd suspended a huge slab of wood, a cross section of a tree, in his backyard. He tried to teach me how to throw tomahawks while managing NOT to destroy his fence, directly behind the target. But Hatchet Jack's was a chance to get into the "batting cage." The guys at Hatchet Jack's told me that as I practiced, I would develop a rhythm, and my aim would improve. They were absolutely right. I'm confident that one day I will eventually hit the target! LOL. Thanks for the opportunity to have a fun afternoon and a cool refreshing adult beverage. Perhaps next year when I come to the Iowa Irish Fest again, I'll make it to Iowa City and hit that target dead center. : ) Edit: the owner was right! I forgot to mention how fun it was. I hope I have clarified things for the record.
