We had a $100 gift certificate that we could not use. We are not from Madison so when we were there they were only doing carry out. We were told we could not use our gift certificate. The next time we went to Madison you were closed. Now you are closed for good. You were paid ahead so you should have honored it. I understand how Covid affected your business I really do. You left a bad impression on a lot of people..
If you haven't attended one of Harvest Restaurants Annual Dinners, you are missing out! We attended their Annual Garlic Dinner. It was fantastic! Each course was expertly paired with a glass of wine. Course #1: Garlic Flan served with a French Rose' - I'm not always a fan of Liver Pate', but this course matched deliciously with the caramelized onion, charred garlic scape amd the perfectly fried garlic chip accents. Course #2: Garlic Confit served with a Greek Rose' The creamy Manhattan Clam Chowder with Roasted Tomatoes, Clams and Milk Poached Garlic. Secretly, I wanted to lick the bowl, but etiquette would dictate not! Course #3: Butter Sauteed Garlic paired with a South African Chenin Blanc This "Caesar" styled Seared Lettuce with Garlic Buttermilk Dressing, Anchovies and Burnt Garlic Salt One might think literally burning garlic might add an off flavor in this course. It accented the salad perfectly! Course #4: Black Garlic Grits served witha Sardinian Santadi Grotta Rossa The sweetness of the Black Garlic played well in the Grits. The grits were topped with Braised Collard Greens and a Garlic Crusted Game Hen. You could really taste the vinegar forward Garlic Infused North Carolina BBQ Sauce in the Collards. This was my favorite wine pairing. Course #5: Candied Porcelain Garlic course with the Mas Amiel, Maury France. Loved the Caramelized Garlic Bread Pudding with the Wild Black Cap Sauce. It was a wonderful end to a perfect evening! Service: Spot on and everything you would expect from this restaurant. Friendly staff. The whole meal was timed perfectly! Whether you go for something on the menu or for a special seasonal dinner, you are in for a treat!
Gorgeous interior, varied menu, fantastic friendly staff. Food was great but, as the waiter admitted, the portions run small. On the positive side, a starter, main, and dessert are fulfilling but not overfilling.
4.5 stars if it was possible. Quality of the food was very good, quantity was okay. Probably not the spot for big eaters, but definitely a great place to try. Came during restaurant week, so menu was somewhat limited.
Bafflingly awful entrees! We went for restaurant week, really looking forward to a nice night out. Decor was lovely, nice warm atmosphere. Had a corn romaine salad and cod cakes for appetizers. Corn salad was great! Flavorful, unique blend of tastes and textures. Cod cakes were ok, pretty bland, a little dry, mostly tasted like bacon. Bread was good too. Our entrees were roasted pork loin and gnocchi. The pork loin was massive, like two hockey pucks, and we were very excited until we tried it. It was tender and juicy but dominated by an overpowering smokey taste. We like smoked meat, but this was much too strong and the only flavor in every bite. The gnocchi was the opposite: a sad, tiny portion of mashed potato nuggets with almost no flavor. The roasted vegetables were good; at least they had flavor. My wife ate the pork, but I sent the gnocchi back. Our waiter promptly offered to replace it, and I got the brisket. I got a couple decent bites of meat, and the rest was a big glob of fat, atop “potato salad” that comprised of small dry potato chunks. It was disgusting. Dessert was pretty good. My wife’s chocolate espresso cake was a bit bland, but good texture, and my lemon posset was scrumptious. Perfect lemon curd flavored custard with a yummy ginger rhubarb compote. We wolfed it down, hungry and relieved. So, two good non-entrees and two mediocre ones, good ambience, service, and bread. Extremely disappointing food. Maybe it was a restaurant week fluke? We won’t be back.
I’ve enjoyed both dinner and brunch here, both were fantastic. Harvest has a cute, cozy atmosphere and super tasty food. The cinnamon roll (with ham!) was a great way to kick off brunch and coffee. Definitely recommend visiting.
The service was fabulous and the food very tasty. It is restaurant week, so more affordable than normal.
Delicious and elegant offerings. Simply crafted dishes with complex flavors. Also can't beat the location and capitol view!
