Beautiful but easy trails. Minimal elevation rise makes this a great stop for kids or just casual walks with the dogs. You will get lovely views of the harpeth the back of the veterans cemetery and of course the hidden lake if you take the 1.5 mile railroad spur. Lots of interesting old ruins from the 1904 quarry and 1920s resort operations too. There is also a put in and take out to the river so this area is heavily trafficked in the summer by the local river outfitters. (Shout out: Sunshine Adventures). This location usually does have ample parking but again beware the summer weekends it will fill up.
Beautiful place to visit. We are definitely coming back in summer or spring to appreciate the full beauty this state park has to offer! It was cold 🥶 BUT we made it and enjoyed the hike! They had a portable potty right in front of the parking area. M
Quick and easy kayaking/fishing in Nashville. Great for kids 7 and up who want to get more of an outdoor experience. We usually like to take our kids here when the water is low. This was our last kayak 3 days before weather got cold. Water was low and had to walk through some spots but happy we got to enjoy the nice weather. We started at Newsom’s Mill and finished in hidden lake. Nice walking trails to the hidden lake not too long and pretty easy.
Found this park thru Google as I was looking for a place that had butterflies to see since my friend who just passed loved them. This park has lots of them, flowers, birds and I was pleasantly surprised to see deer nearby eating . It was so beautiful with a trail to walk around a couple of lakes. Loved my visit! There is an outhouse located at the info station near the parking area. There were story board signs along a easy trail for children. It would be nice to have benches at certain places in the trail.
It was a fun hike and an enjoyable day with family. There were many poop bags lying around. It’s nice that people were courteous enough to pick it up but there were no trash cans around to dispose of them so the bags were left beside the trails. It would be nice if there were some strategically placed, perhaps at each trail bifurcation. Then when dog owners are responsible and caring enough to pick up their pets’ waste, it can also be disposed of properly.
This was a pretty easy area to walk. Trails aren't labeled very well and some parts aren't very well kept. Overall, satisfying though
It was super pretty. Trails are short but nice one is fairly steep. The water seems to be low currently but was beautiful still.
Hidden Lake Double Loop is a 1.9 mile trail around an old rock quarry. On one side you see the Lake and the other is the Harpeth River. It features beautiful overlooks of the lake and the nearby Veterans Cemetery. You can also see remnants when it was useful as a swimming pool and a dance hall. The trail around the lake is moderate because you do go uphill and have to negotiate rocks and tree roots. The bottom trail is flat and easy. It is a great habitat for butterflies.

Always a great experience wandering around soaking up the sights. I wish I could have caught one of the concerts by candlelight, but definitely will next time around. The lake and scenery are gorgeous, and the Parthenon is of course, just incredible!
Great fun place! Took my 4 year old and 13 year old today, we had a lot of fun! Few things tho, they only take cards for payment no cash. There is a little playground as well to play in. Fun sand area before the water and tons of space for a crowd. W
