This is a site with lots to see and learn about the local area. This is one of the many Georgia State Parks and more information can be found on their website for this site. It is at the northeast corner of SR 17 and 75. Our map took us to the wrong entrance. The main entrance seems to be off the north side of SR 17. A winding road takes you to a large parking lot on a hill overlooking the site and crossroads. There is a ramp/stairs that lead you down to the visitor’s center where tickets can be purchased. Adult tickets are about $13. There is a map of the site as there are 17 buildings with lots of informational displays and signs across a large area. Most of the walkways are hard-packed rocks and may be a little tricky to traverse. The visitors center is wonderful and the staff is very nice. The main mansion is not open all the time so if you want to see inside please check for the times that it is available. Each area and building has wonderfully done informational signs that tell you about their use, function, and history. Many of the buildings are open for you to walk inside and lots are still being restored. If you want to learn about history and see how a farm used to operate, this is a great place to do it. I highly recommend it to anyone in the area.

What a great trip into yesteryear. The horse-drawn buggy, the beautiful mansion, furniture, accessories and decor were a memorable sight. The family in Victorian attire playing the parts of the original family were delightful. The Father Christmas was perfect!

Attended the Harvest Moon Dance at Hardman Farm this past weekend. The event was just as lovely and romantic as you’d expect an open air, 1930’s themed, dance under the stars with live jazz music and twinkling lights hung from majestic trees to be! There was a great mix of older guests and young all celebrating together and learning the steps to some 30’s dances like the fox trot and swing dancing from the charming instructor, Grace. A few notes. There will be a walk from where you park to where you check in (88 steps or use the ramp) and then head down a long tree lined drive to the event so wear comfortable shoes. There was a golf cart shuttling people a couple at a time from the check in location as well. If you arrive late (we did!) you won’t find anyone at the brick visitors center so just walk down the drive to the mansion and check in there. Arrive early for a table - there wasn’t enough table seating for all the guests and it was difficult to balance the dinner, which included juicy meatballs and a soup- without a place to cut the food! Staff were lovely and helpful throughout the night and I am looking forward to visiting again during their Victorian Christmas celebration.

Great place to visit. Make sure to call ahead to see if you can go inside or just walk the grounds. Sweet lady at visitor's center so helpful.

Hardman Farm State Historic Site located near Helen Georgia is a wonderful place to visit. There's a trail (Hardman trail) along the river that's beautiful and will take you in to Helen. There's a lot of history in the area and so many things to see. The historic site includes an 1870 Italianate mansion. Very busy on the day that I went. Fun Fact: Capt. James Nichols built the main house in 1870 and the gazebo atop Nacoochee Mound in 1890. His daughter Anna Ruby Nichols is the namesake of Anna Ruby Falls. #FriendsofGaStateParks #GaHistoricSites #HappyPlaces

Beautiful farm with a lot of history. We were there on a Wednesday so unfortunately there was no tour that day inside the house so we just toured the grounds. The $6 cost for the self guided walk was well worth it. It's $12 for the guided tours that also gives access inside the house but walking the grounds at our own pace and peeking through the house windows was a nice relaxing way to spend a couple hours.

This place is surprisingly great to visit, lots to explore and learn here. Take a walk from Hardman Farm Heritage Trail to the farm, there's free parking there. Very nice short walk to the farm.

Beautiful grounds. The holiday decorations were beautiful. The staff are friendly and informative. Wish we could have done the Christmas Festivities.
