Happy Teriyaki #5 - Japanese restaurant in Tumwater - 5103 Capitol Blvd SE, USA

The Lunch Specials are $10.25 from 11am-2pm. It's 75 cents extra for brown rice or fried rice. It comes with wonton soup, rice, and stir-fried broccoli, carrots, and cabbage. The portions are more than generous! The ingredients were fresh and DELICIOUS. We had the Beef and Chicken and the Katsu chicken today and we can't wait to go back to this place when we're in town next time! It was fast, the place was clean, and the people were nice. I recommend this place very much. The Beef and Chicken was a Teriyaki style. The Katsu Chicken came with Katsu sauce on the side. I have never loved eating cabbage so much, but the way they cooked it I ate ALL of the cabbage on my plate. (UPDATE) They jacked up the price of the lunch special to $11.75 and $1.99 for brown rice or fried rice. 12/6/2023

This was our second date restaurant 25 years ago! We came in today, happy that the place survived the last three years. Food was still as delicious and plentiful as then and I think the lunch special is just $2 more than in 1996. Your results may vary but it’s still a good place for a second date.

With my son's dietary restrictions being allergic to dairy, we don't eat out very often. So when we do, we go somewhere where we know we will enjoy the food and I don't have to worry about the safety of the ingredients for him. This was a fun evening eating in, rather than taking it to go like normal. Loved the date I got to have with my little man. He told me I was pretty and snuggled me. Other than photos for here, my phone was put away. I encourage people to check them out and bury the phone and live in the moment!

I had lunch here a few days ago. I decided to try their ribs and was shocked when I got the bill, but I will say they were tasty and very flavorful. For the price I would have expected a larger plate, but it was a good meal. I thought the service was good, came to my table 3x to fill my water glass.. may try them again.

The food is very good. Occasionally, the beef is a little fatty. The serving size is good as well. Prices are average. The servers are polite and helpful, but they don't always come around real often.

The food is great and the service is efficient and friendly. We didn't wait long in line, and only waited about 10-15 minutes for our four takeout orders to be ready. I enjoyed the Yakisoba with Tofu dinner, which is about $15 plus tip, and actually felt full after the meal. For sit-down dining, the restaurant interior is spacious, but also dark, dated and worn. If you need to impress a date or a business contact, go somewhere fancier but expect to pay more.

A classic, nostalgic Japanese eatery! Been going here since the 90s and make sure to visit at least once when coming back to Oly to visit. Great lunch specials and their teriyaki chicken is amaze-balls! This location is the best IMHO (followed by the Happy T on Pacific Ave)

Do not order the orange chicken. Not authentic and just some common frozen bagged chicken nuggets with light orange sauce. Plus friend explicitly said both his meats spicy and only 1 was and that is the "language" asked to be used so this doesn't happen.
