We aren't sure if the hotel is ready to be open. Our room had the bare minimum: beds, sheets, blankets, pillow, towels. There wasn't a remote for the TV or a shower curtain or an ice bucket. There wasn't a clock or a phone. You had to type in a code to get into the room. There were several cats wandering the parking lot and the room walkways.

Filthy, no wash cloths but that didn't matter no hot water. Dirty bedding lots of knats. It will definitely make the next place seem nicer.

Happy Inn is anything but happy. Their advertising if totally false. Mold in the shower, bugs, needs repairs. No toilet paper because there is no TP holder. Only 1hand towel. Rooms smell like mold and moth balls. Does not have wheelchair access in the room. Rooms are very small!. Says breakfast complimentary but none is served. If I could I would give a negative 5. False advertising

The most disgusting hotel I ever been to & I have been to many because I travel a lot! We changed rooms & every room is just disgusting! Filthy rooms, stink, mice problems, trash every where, tv's not working, fire alarms not working or connected, sink leaks, tub leaks, stains all over the walls, sheets are staind & ripped up, pillows tore & stained, no towels, no blankets, no phones in the rooms, curtains ripped & stained, no outlets but 2, lamps don't work, definitely not up to code on numerous things here, this place really does need to get shut down and brought up to code, with covid going around this place is definitely unsanitary & is a major health hazard! I have contacted the health inspector about this place it definitely needs major remodeling or just tore down and rebuild plain and simple. I wish I could post pictures with this review because I definitely have a lot of them.

No one is ever at the front desk. I guess you get what you pay for. The room was decent but there were no face towels and no stopper for the tub to take a bath. There were patches all over the walls. The bedding and towels seems to b clean but there were badly stained. There was hair in the shower and sink. When it came time to check out again no one was at the desk. I called the number provided and rang the bell for about 15 minutes and no one ever came. I had to leave without checking out.

This place is about 1/18th of a step above what actually would have prompted me to demand a full refund and leave, and I have an extremely high tolerance for cheap hotels. Easily 6-7 other guests cut & run just during the various times I spent in the lobby. In short, it’s a dump. Not just a “you get what you pay for” $40 hotel, but a straight up dump.| |The overview: The pool was closed with no notice or apparent reason. Internet is not working for most of the hotel. Because internet isn’t working, Roku TV is also not working. DirecTV was also not working. The lone ice machine is broken. There is a giant pile of debris, garbage, and old mattresses behind the hotel, which is charming. In my room, I reserved and paid for a king but got two fulls. My door code didn’t work and I had to have it reset. I had no garbage can. The curtains were hilariously mismatched and the broken window was filthy. There were cigarette burns in the bedding. Bath tub overflow was rusted completely out. Sink drain was broken. They have fancy keyless code-activated doors which, based on conversations with other guests, only work maybe 50% of the time; most people did not have functional TV; many did not have hot water; many did not have functional heaters or air conditioners. I slept with my window open so I could hear when someone inevitably tried to break into my vehicle, so I didn’t have occasion to try the heating or AC. With all of this, they have the audacity to charge a $50 security deposit, which is only refunded when you return your useless Roku remote between 8am-Noon. Fantastic for anyone who wants to hit the road early, which I’m sure is exactly why they do it that way.| |Anyhow, waiting to check in I heard several people complain that internet didn’t work, TVs didn’t work, AC didn’t work, etc. Each guest was told they were the only person who had made such a complaint, that there was nothing the clerk could do to help, they had no maintenance person on staff, and the manager wouldn’t be in until 8pm. I broached this when it was my turn to check in and the clerk assured me that the Roku would somehow magically work in the absence of internet. I told her this was critical and asked if there were any other rooms with functional internet; she said there were not. I made my way to my room and found this is more of a low, low end residential hotel as most of the people seemed to be long-term guests. Several were smoking pot in the parking lot and discussing how automotive glass affects trajectory in drive-by shootings (I’m not kidding; I made an audio recording of this charming conversation outside my window). Like I said: Charming.| |This is a level of nonsense that exceeds what I expect even for a cheap hotel, so I hit the lobby just after 8pm to talk to the manager. I was told he was not yet in, so having nothing else to do, I hunkered down to wait. Meanwhile many other guests also came in or called looking for the manager. Finally the manager came in at about 8:45pm, got a quick overview from the clerk, then walked out. I asked the clerk if that was the manager and she said yes, that he just had something to do real quick. He returned about 9:15pm, at which point another employee barged in front of me and complained to the manager about a problem with his W2 and the manager again walked off without acknowledging me. Super classy. Around 9:40 or so, the manager texts the clerk and, after some back and forth, offers me $5 off my bill. $5. For literally none of the property amenities being operational. I said thanks but no thanks. Manager comes back with “Or you can leave.” I told the clerk that I was far more amenable to a lowball offer 1.5 hours earlier and before the manager deliberately and blatantly blew me off TWICE, so no, he could go ahead and stop having this conversation via text, come back into the office and have this conversation with me like a grownup. At this point the clerk says “Oh, he’s not really the manager. He’s actually the maintenance man. I just thought he was the manager but he’s not.” Uh… glad to see that the “moron” tattoo I got on my forehead is having the desired results. So not buying that line of crap for ½ a second, I said “If he’s the maintenance man, he can come fix my TV. And please explain to me why an employee is discussing his W2 with the maintenance man.” The clerk says he can’t fix my TV and doesn’t know why they’re talking about W2s but the real manager only works Monday through Friday. Great, I said. Get her on the phone. No, I’m told, she hasn’t been answering her phone.| |At this point I have lost my cherub-like demeanor. Meanwhile the clerk’s SO has been wandering in and out trying to pick her up from work and asks me what the problem is. To his credit, he – a non-employee witness to this bloody train wreck – offered to take a look at the tv and see if he could figure it out. I had already confirmed the proper input source, attempted to reconnect to the internet, power cycle the DirecTV box etc, but he did take a few steps beyond what I’d done such as replacing the card. He also came up empty. He left for a bit and returned with the offer to change rooms to one with functional internet and TV, which had apparently become available at some point through the mass exodus of guests. While I sincerely appreciate the efforts of this one non-employee whose only motivation was to take work off his wife/girlfriends plate so they could go home already, I took a pass on the new room. By this point it was after 10pm so by the time I schlepped all of our crap off to a new room, it would be far too late for me to be watching TV anyhow. On top of that, the parking lot party was just hitting it’s stride and my original room had the added benefit that my vehicle was parked directly out front which would make it easier for me to identify the source of any breaking glass in the night.| |Another fun thing about this hotel is that there is nobody on staff from 1am to 8am. Apparently the breakfast just sets itself out at 6:30am, but guests can’t interact with an actual human until 8am. So around midnight I start hearing this extremely animated conversation going on outside my window which lasts for hours. Turns out this poor lady had lived in the hotel for nearly a month and had stepped out for a cigarette, only to find her door code suddenly no longer worked. She found no one at the desk, even though the manager was supposed to be there until 1pm, and nobody was answering the emergency phone for the property. This woman was frantically calling anyone she could think of, including corporate OYO, to try to come up with some solution that didn’t involve her sleeping in her car. As far as I can determine, corporate OYO couldn’t help her and she ended up sleeping in her car because of these jenky door locks.| |I hit the 6:30-9am breakfast buffet just after 7am, about 30 minutes after it opened, and found 4 bananas, 1 very tiny honey bun, 1 packet of oatmeal, a couple slices of stale bread, a few yogurts and some cereal. I somehow doubt all of the partiers were up at 6:30am to get in on the prime breakfast action, so not only should you not expect any decent or nutritious options, I’d say don’t expect any food at all if you don’t get there before 7:30am or so. When I retuned around 8am, it was picked bare. No fruit, no bread, no oatmeal or cereal, no juice or milk, no hot water, no coffee. Nada. And still no ice, obviously. I had to wait more than 20 minutes to check out and get my deposit back because EVERY guest in front of me had the same complaints I did and were looking for partial refunds or some sort of acknowledgment that this situation is unacceptable. Several customers had booked multiple nights in the hotel and were negotiating for a rebate on the remaining pre-paid nights so they could leave. One guy actually had freon leaking into his room when he turned his AC on. Once again, nobody with any authority was on staff so nobody received anything approaching a reasonable resolution. I demanded and received the $5 I was offered, because frankly that’s all I expect to see, and since my $50 security deposit was run as an actual credit card charge and not just a funds hold, I also demanded something in writing indicating that my deposit would be refunded. This establishment is as shady as they come, and although I realize it’s not the clerks fault and wasn’t trying to make her life difficult, I also wasn’t about to hand over an extra $50 to the unscrupulous operators.| |In short, this place is an unmitigated dumpster fire. If I’m in a market where $250 per night hotel rooms are the norm, I know I’m probably getting a dumpster fire for $40. I got a room the following night not far away for $50 which was absolutely outstanding, so this OYO isn’t a dirt-cheap property for this market; they’re just straight up ripping people off.|

!!!BEWARE!!!! READ IT ALL BEFORE STAYING HERE!!! THE PICTURES ARE ALL LIES!!! Terrible, scary, and smells utterly horrendous. I was with family so I had two queen bed. The first room had exposed wire and the fire alarm wasn’t even connected. The bed was broken. There was no hot water. The ac wasn’t cooling and A bunch of mysterious stains on walls, bed, and showers. The room wasn’t cleaned since there was a dirty diaper in the trash can. We told the front office and they moved us to another room except they told us that the lamp doesn’t work which we thought that’s all it was. The lamp was actually hanging off the wall with exposed wire and the fire alarm had no batteries. The ac cooled but would turn off after 3 minutes. The shower was moldy and dirty. Even the “fancy lock” didn’t have a back cover, only tape to hold the batteries. Be mindful there might be bed bugs as well as flies in the room. We again confronted management and they didn’t believe us and went to our room to fix the ac but whatever he would do wouldn’t make it stay on. So he then again moved us to a third room but when we asked for a refund, he would only give us half and we can still stay in the room. In the beginning he said we would have to pay to cancel which was 49 when the room were 53 and they wouldn’t give a refund for canceling. We had asked him if everything was working in the next room and he said yes but the toilet doesn’t work. He said that we would have to go to the room next door. The room we had to actually use was one of our previous rooms which was a couple of ways. THE SMELL!! It was terrible. It smells like toilet with moldy water. The beds in this room were the most uncomfortable. The sheets were stained and once again the fire alarm has exposed wire. Sadly we only got this hotel since we just needed a place to sleep but it’s not even good for that. BEWARE!!! THERE IS A LOT OF HOMELESS IN THE HOTEL. They were eyeing our car, our room, and what we had. It even said in the contract that they aren’t responsible for anything.

Gross. This place was just gross. The room was disgusting, there was actual mouse droppings in the dresser, a hole in the wall, exposed wiring, ripped carpet and a broken bed. The smell and condition of the room, are worse than ANYTHING I have ever seen. The second room? Not better, once you stepped over the outside trash overflowing out of the can it looks like it hadn’t been taken out for over a week. I understand it’s a low-budget motel, but paying $5 would be too much. Sleep in your car instead.

We stopped here on our way from Phoenix to Tucson based on the reviews; we are from the eastern US, and I’ve been dying to try a Sonoran hot dog. Hot Dogs Alvarado did not disappoint. My husband and I agree that this is the best hot dog we have eve
