Hampton Inn Starkville - Hotel in Starkville - 700 MS-12, USA

Jordan, the manager, was exceptional. Unfortunately, the hotel was undergoing construction, which I missed when booking the reservation. Since my partner had an exam the next day and needed to study, Jordan made the transition to another hotel as smooth as possible. We stayed there for a day, enjoyed an excellent breakfast, and found the staff to be very kind

We were going to Starkville for an emotional family event and would be there for four days. We chose to stay at the Hampton Inn because we have always been comfortable there. This stay was extremely disappointing. The room was missing a curtain, trash cans, a mirror, and an ironing board. The bathroom / closet barn door (only one piece that covers either the bathroom OR the closet at one time) often got stuck and three of the drawers were broken. The bathroom was designed with the only electrical outlets directly by the sink, with no countertop available for any hair dryers, curling irons, or other appliances. In order to use these devices, we had to plug them in then run the cord behind and over the faucet, which is not safe or functional. Our keys had to be reprogrammed every single time we left our room, and there was rarely anyone at the front desk to assist with any issue. The self / service snack and beverage area was out of any beverage other than diet coke for the entire 4 day stay. We had no issues with parking, but the hotel sits on a very busy intersection so it is not particularly easy to enter nor exit. The eggs at breakfast were delicious and the new bathroom color scheme is cute, but the rest of the stay was very disappointing. We were not comfortable at all. We have already booked our stay for this same event next year at a different hotel, and will be taking the other portions of our family with us.

We have always enjoyed Hampton Inn as a great value for what you’re paying for. We knew this one was currently under renovation, and were accepting of that. But the new renovation ended up installing permanent and cheap slotted blinds, which let in far too much light all night. Even other guests were complaining they were up all night. I don’t recommend this hotel, with the newly added renovations at all. Also, WiFi for us was pretty much nonexistent. The front desks told us to restart our phones— which didn’t help. Hopefully they will make a change back to blackout curtains like every other hotel— ever.

I really enjoyed my stay! Mr.Gamble was so professional and he shown great courtesy! He and Jordan made sure all issues with the delay of my check from the county were solved! Overall hospitality was a 10! Housekeeping was great as well,the ladies made sure I had plenty of clean towels..

We were there for a very emotional meeting, and we had chosen Hampton Inn because we have always had a great and comfortable stay there. This visit was awful. There was rarely anyone at the front desk, and if we could find someone, they were not very helpful. When we checked in, our room did not have curtains, an ironing board, or a trash can, and the drawers were broken. The sliding door that closed both the closet and the bathroom often stuck. There were no beverages other than Diet Coke in the snack area (the ones for purchase) the entire time we were there.

This hotel is being renovated. That was my mistake for booking in the first place. However, we were assigned a room that the tv nor the phone worked (only knew the phone didn’t work because the tv said to call the front desk.) Upon asking about the tv situation, we were assigned another room that was considerably smaller than the first room. The pool area is completely under construction and not useable. The gym is also closed. Woke up to a very lukewarm shower-the water was not hot at all. There was also no shelf in the shower for personal toiletries. When we mentioned that the water was not hot, the reply from the front desk clerk was, “we’re having problems because of the renovation work.” If this was a known problem, then it should have been stated up front when we checked in so we could have gone to another hotel. The room was also not dark at all. Light shined through the blinds of the window and the door. It made for a difficult time sleeping. When we checked out, we asked for a call from the manager to voice our concerns. The response was a text message asking us if we were contacted by Hilton. No phone call. The customer service was lacking, the amenities nonexistent, and the rooms underwhelming for the price during the off-season.

UPDATE- I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!!!!!! This hotel has given me issues since check in! Staying in town for a conference and when I arrive there were a lof of construction. Orginally when I booked it stated the construction would end Aug 1, that was not the case. They started parking lot construction which in term lead to barely no parking for guest. This was not noted on the website in a timely manner and it was an inconvenience for me. Also my orgianal room had to be moved as well. Not only was construction suppose to start at eight they started early which woke me up out my sleep. This stay have not been pleasant for me. The staff was friendly but I will not stay here in the future. If you are booking this hotel soon please call and make sure the construction is over.
