We enjoyed another great stay at the Hampton Inn Ridgefield Park. We were cruising out of NYC so used the park and cruise package. Upon our return from the cruise, we stayed an additional few days to explore NYC. Fred (front desk) was kind enough to have a room ready for us well before the "normal" check in time and Michelle was also lovely to deal with. We will definitely be back!

Some room doors here appear to be closed and locked but are actually not, so anyone walking by can just enter the room with a touch. One can leave for the day only to return to find the room was unlocked the entire time. Sometimes it appears to be a card key malfunction, but it is not, the key doesn't work because the door is not actually completely closed by a tiny fraction of an inch and has to be slammed shut. In a quick survey of just my floor, I found three rooms would open just from the force of a brief poke of a finger. Our room, has since been fixed by maintenance but all doors on all floors should be checked. Management must know of this problem, as they must have noticed that guests in those rooms always seemed to need new card keys during their stay. Since having card keys replaced didn't work to solve the problem, we took anything important with us every time we left the room, or left one person behind in the room all day, which was a major inconvenience. My guests had resorted to sticking a wedge of pizza box underneath the door to make it harder to enter as they had been scaring each other awake when they pushed the door open.||||This hotel really isn't a hotel according to the dictionary as a "hotel" caters to the accommodations of travelers or tourists. This establishment seems primarily cater to people needing long term places to stay and tourists secondary concern, which changes the character of the property as long term residents become territorial and overly familiar with staff. Just like AirBnBs change the character of a residential neighborhood, some long term residents change the character of a hotel for the worse. We personally witnessed long term residents monopolizing public areas for days at a time, propping open exterior doors to bypass key cards, helping themselves to hotel equipment, harassing an employee, insulting a guest and being interviewed by police.||||There is a tremendous amount of noise at various times of the day. During the last sleep of our stay, at 12:30 AM, everyone in our two rooms was awakened by a guest yelling and cussing at another in his party who seemed to have locked him out. He said his card key didn't work.||||The doors for adjoining rooms allow much noise to pass through. Early in my stay I complained that I could hear conversations from the next room. There are many children, screaming and misbehaving, interfering with sleep of guests. We have since discovered that these are usually long term guests.||||Electricity and water! The microwave in our room worked for less than 30 seconds. The replacement microwave tripped a circuit and did something to the refrigerator, which by then had ruined our food and had to be replaced. An air conditioner malfunction set off a fire alarm, which awakened my son recovering from a long international flight, who ran outside in a panic in his pyjamas and was stuck there until the fire department cleared the building. Various outlets didn't work. Phones functioned only intermittently. One room consistently lacked hot water.||||The pool was murky the entire visit although I was always told they were working on it. The treadmill didn't work. The printer needed help from the front desk clerk to work properly.||||One item used during breakfast was literally not edible, meaning not meant for human consumption. I called the manufacturer to verify that it was not poisonous, but also was for cleaning purposes, not to be eaten.||||The location is on an highway ramp and one cannot walk anywhere easily. Getting into and out of the parking lot is difficult.||||Hampton Inn Hilton seems to no longer guarantee satisfaction in any meaningful way.

We stayed here for the Park and Go Cruise Package. Pros: the shuttle service was very efficient and easy. The hotel rented a larger charter bus so there was plenty of space for everyone and their luggage. Loading at the hotel was very easy, getting our luggage at the port was very efficient. When we returned the bus was waiting and again, was very easy to get back to the hotel. The breakfast was well-stocked (not a ton of options, but what was there was plentiful). The room itself was nice and clean, the bed was quite comfortable. Cons: Our car was vandalized while we were gone. (Someone came and pried the emblems off the car and left very deep scratches). Yes- there are signs up that "absolve" the hotel of any damage to your vehicle, but the front desk staff was not at all helpful even when we called the police to get a report for insurance purposes. Make sure to park directly adjacent to the building. I'm not sure if it would have helped, but we were in the outer row. Getting into the hotel is a nightmare. I read the reviews ahead of time and thought 'it can't be that bad'. It is. The traffic to get off on the exit backs up half a mile and it took us 20 minutes to go that last little bit. Just be prepared. Food and drink options are minimal (nothing really in driving distance, particularly given the traffic mentioned above). We were able to get door dash eventually (high fee for delivery), however there was no option to get any sort of alcoholic beverage. Also- keep in mind that once you are on the turnpike there are few options as well. I would prepare ahead of time and stop at a grocery store or food place before arrival. The rooms on the side of the hotel near the highway are VERY loud (road noise) even late at night. Recommend requesting a room on the south side of the building. ---- Prior to our car being vandalized we had felt certain we would stay at this hotel again if we were going to be taking another cruise, but i'm not sure where we land now.

This “independently owned & operated” Hilton brand hotel has made me reconsider Hilton hotels after being an Honors member forever. Musty smell in my room turned out to be visible mold that management denied. Bath towels were laundered inefficiently and remained dirty & with hairs. Resolution offered was air freshener & one clean towel. In a side note, the entrance to the hotel is next to impossible to get to, requiring the crossing of a busy highway entrance ramp lane only to find minimal parking.

My biggest complaint was no hot water. We changed rooms twice and lukewarm was as good as it got. Rooms were actually very clean though. I basically waited an hour for maintenance at like 11pm for the water situation only to be changed rooms with no additional hot water in the next room. Additionally, they allow people smoking weed in the parking lot at 10/11pm and then their children were so loud that multiple people requested a new room on a new floor.

Perfectly pleasant stay, room was clean, hotel was quiet. Getting in the driveway was dicey based on the location, but if highway access is your goal, this is your place. Breakfast was generous with plenty of variety, both hot and cold. Plenty of parking. Rating is based on value, not amenities. This isn't a 5 star hotel but for the price, an excellent stay with no complaints.

I was pleasantly surprised with this stay! We did the park and ride for the Manhattan Port for our cruise. The rooms were clean, there is a small pool and fitness center and included breakfast. In addition the bus to and from the port was very very easy. I was worried from other reviews but I have no idea what their problem was because we had no issues. Be on time and you’ll be fine. The staff were friendly. We had 3 people and 5 pieces of luggage no problem at all. We did indicate there was 3 people not 2 when we booked where it indicated and we literally had no problems. I will 100% book this again for any cruise going from Manhattan it was cost effective and again very easy to get to and from the dock. If you’re leaving for a cruise I would do this vs parking near the port so much less stressful! One downside is the turn to get into the hotel is hard because of the highway merge. Disclaimer: my brother’s car emblem was stolen off his car while it was parked in the hotel lot (no one else’s car was vandalized). I’m not taking a star away because this can happen anywhere but do keep this in mind it’s not monitored so park at your own risk. The hotel did not compensate him nor did we expect them to
