I stayed here for two nights and enjoyed my stay. My room on the top floor was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed and large TV with streaming options. Parking was $16/night which is a bit much if you ask me, but it is a city and I appreciated the close parking option. Breakfast was decent, and location was superb for exploring KC. My only complaint would be the front desk didn't offer me and water bottles when I checked in, and I didn't get a complimentary snack or anything with my status as a Gold member.

I first stayed at this location a few years back when I was in Kansas City for a conference. When my group was returning to the same conference this year I jumped to recommend this Hampton Inn location again-- BIG MISTAKE! Our stay was complete chaos with one sitcom worthy scenario to the next. We had a total of 3 rooms for our reservation. When we entered the hotel about an hour before check-in time, instead of your standard "welcome" we were greeted with an abrasive "we're not doing early check-in" from the sliding door. We were able to check in to one of the rooms around the check in time, but the other two rooms we checked in to later that night. In the first room, the room I was in, I was settle in to the room when one of the hotel employees just barged into the room while I was getting dressed. No knocking or announcing themselves, and not so much as an apology when the barged in to find me partially dressed. In the next room, the sliding bathroom door FELL ON TOP of one of our guests. In order for anyone to use the bathroom, someone had to physically be on the other side holding the door up!! But it's truly our experience with the last room that puts the icing on the cake. When checking in for the last room, we were first assigned a room that was occupied-- the room that our first guest had been assigned 5 hours earlier. We were then assigned a different room. When entering this room, we found that there was a family with small children already occupying this room. We had to go back down stairs to be reassigned another room. The third room was completely dirty with unmade beds, dirty stacks of towels on the floor, and chip bags/food containers littering the room. We had to go back downstairs again to be reassigned a room. It was not until the FOURTH ROOM and past 11 PM that we finally got a room that was actually ready. I've had experiences where I've been reassigned another room once due to a dirty room but never have I experienced being reassigned to FOUR different rooms. The entire situation was ABSOLUTELY ABSURD, but even worse was the response by the front desk associates. We complained to the front desk team, who lacked any type of empathy or customer service skills. When we were checking out, we were slipped this hand written note in an envelope from the manager that stated we would be compensated for our stay in one of the hotel rooms. Later, in trying to follow up with what we were promised, we have been completely stonewalled by the front desk team, Kelly and Whitney. They are now refusing to give us a refund that we were promised and will not let us speak with the hotel manager when we call. Additionally, the hotel manager has stopped responding when we call. I have stayed at many different hotels, including Hampton Inns and other Hilton properties, and I have NEVER experienced a hotel stay like this. The disregard you must have for your customers to treat them like this is absolutely wild. And the arrogance of the front desk team to promise one thing and completely ignore any type of follow up requests from the customer is on a whole different level. There needs to be some level of corporate oversight and follow up at this location because there is an underlying level of sketchiness with this entire experience. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again and I truly hope others learn from our horrific experience.

WOW. This staff is the best staff I've ever encountered at a hotel. They truly go above and beyond. Mike and another kind lady with glasses, I wish I could remember her name, remember everyone in the building. Why they are here, where they say they are going, etc. They ask about your experience and provide advice and recommendations. The other staff members are equally as friendly and concerned for your safety, especially if you're not from the city. I wish this was an apartment complex because I would move here in a second. The breakfast was great and the rooms are spacious. It's in a great location downtown. Quick walk to the streetcar. I felt completely safe traveling with my other female friend. I totally recommend staying here, and I will only stay here for any future trips to the city.

We got a room here on the 6th floor for my sisters college graduation. We came from out of town. As soon as we got in the room it was a hotbox at 76+ degrees. We repeatedly called maintenance and front desk to try and get it fixed. After 5 times of them saying they “fixed it” the room was still hot and wouldn’t cool. They won’t help with any refunds/discounts. And the only way we were able to barely sleep was by using this loud box fan that we had to request from them. I maybe got 30 minutes of restful sleep all night. Not to mention the shower drain stops up during your shower so the dirty water builds up to your ankles while you’re showering. Which none of the maintenance people have acknowledged. This was an expensive room and I can’t believe these simple accommodations that hotels are supposed to have weren’t provided by this facility.

I try to reserve five-star reviews for places where I would return when I'm back in the area, and despite my Hilton Diamond member status and the fact that I stay at Hampton Inn hotels across the country regularly, if I came back to Kansas City I'm not sure I would choose to stay here though it is an acceptable location. Upon arrival, we read that there was valet parking - we sat out front for a minute or two and after not seeing any signage or being approached, we parked in the parking lot next door. The check-in process with Kelly was very friendly and efficient, and we were looking forward to a great stay. Regrettably Kelly was the only friendly employee I encountered, the rest of the employees were typically either watching movies in the lobby area, or on their cell phones - I felt like I was bothering people by asking any question. Of the two elevators, only one was functional during our stay. We stayed for three nights, and the room was not serviced once during our stay. The room itself was a sixth floor room which offered a wonderful view of Kansas City - if you have a view preference be sure to review the floor plan in advance to pick the right room. Breakfast offered standard Hampton Inn options, with the juice machine away seeming to have watered down drinks. The location is perfect, within walking distance from the more active side of downtown Kansas City, and walking distance to the River Market area. At $240 a night plus $16 for parking, I would anticipate there are better options in the area.

Positive: Walking distance to River Market, free KC Street Car, Power & Light. Staff was friendly and helpful. IT outage caused hotel keys to malfunction, staff had to personally go unlock all rooms, but we never had to wait long. Negative: ""

The staff here are great. Friendly and fun to talk to. On multiple occasions we arrived back to the hotel and had full on conversations with the front desk. Breakfast was decent. Eggs, sausage, waffles, bread items, and cereal. Good for a quick lite breakfast. The location is great and many bars and restaurants are in walking distance. Also a quick 5 minute uber rode away to StrawberryHill in Kansas which is definitely worth the visit.

Whitney was the sweetest! The room was cozy. The breakfast was great, we got to make sure we ate good before we drove back to Arkansas. It was only a short walk to the tmobile center!
