Hampton Inn Grand Rapids-South - Featured Reviews (840)
Just stayed 2 nights at the hotel where my family and I came for a family function. The hotel looks good, the rooms were clean, the reception was friendly, and if not for the following 5 issues I would not have had a problem with it. However after the visit, next time I come back I will stay somewhere else.
- The faucet is tiny and terribly positioned in such as way that it makes it almost impossible to wash your hands. There is simply not enough room for both of them under it and they also hit the side of the sink because the faucet is not centered but to the right. The faucets (all of our rooms had the same) have to be replaced with longer ones.
- Even when one manages to wash one hand at a time, there is also almost no water pressure.
- The shower has better pressure but one cannot stand under the shower head because you would be constantly hitting your left arm on the railing put up for the disabled. It absolutely should be there but not this close.
- When out of the shower, one cannot see anything because the mirror is fogged up due to no fan installed in the bathroom (which also would be useful with 4 people using the toilet).
- The refrigerator acts like a freezer and everything within became completely frozen.
So there you have it, a hotel that looks good but apparently nobody ever tested the actual functionality. Hoping it improves.
We stayed one night only for a concert. We arrived back around 11 pm and there were no parking spots available AT ALL. There were two vehicles with trailers taking about 8 parking spots. Myself and about 5 other cars had to park our cars along a narrow area along the side of the building that was not a parking zone. We went inside and waited at the desk for an employee and explained the problem. He said he ‘guessed’ that the trailers were guests at the hotel. I told him I was not happy to pay for a hotel room and have no parking spots nor did I feel comfortable leaving my car where I had to ‘park’ it. He told me “well at least you don’t pay for parking like you would downtown”. I said it was a suburban hotel and parking is park of the deal. He said he wasn’t sure if parking was actually listed as one of the amenities?!?!
I will agree with another commenter that the faucets in the bathroom are awful. You cannot get your hands under them. They are too short and shoved up against the edge. Awful design from Hilton.
The rooms were clean. The hotel was overall messy. It was a busy weekend but staff seemed light and it showed around the common areas.
The construction on 54th Street makes entry/exit difficult right now. Also you cannot turn left into this place (permanently, there is a concrete divider) and there is only one driveway. If you’re coming from the west, heading east, you will have to pass the hotel, cross 131, and find a place to turn around and come back the other direction to enter.
Staying here 8/24/24 for a race in town, location is behind some plaza with construction next to it but it’s right off the highway. So far great experience: manager gave me a late check out. They are doing two alarm calls for the morning for my race. The pool has a hot tub. Room is clean and well AC’d unlike others I’ve been to. The bathroom is clean too and shower has good water pressure.
Room was clean, and all staffs I met were very kind and friendly! Also, I left my little pouch in my room, but they picked it up and kept it. It had my medicines, so I am grateful they kept it. Highly recommended :))
My husband and I stayed here because it is on its way to the Gilmore Museum plus we wanted to go to Max’s South Sea’s Hideaway downtown. The hotel was easy on/easy off. Super clean. Had a microwave, fridge, and coffee in our room. The continental breakfast was fantastic. It also was very clean. They had a waffle maker, oatmeal (with choice of dried cherries and walnuts), mini omelettes, sausage, fruit, bread, cereal, muffins, coffee, juice - everything. The napkins were thick like fine dining! It was $175 total for a Friday night. I thought the price was well worth it.
Boyfriend and I stayed in a room with one of their whirlpool tubs, and the tub was practically spotless. The rest of the room was nice and clean also. We found it odd there were no fans in the room having the tub, but somehow the AC unit took care of it just fine, no steamy mirrors at all. Would definitely stay again!
Rooms are nice and clean, and the location is good this place is perfectly deserving of a 4 star review. The reason i give it 5 stars is the INCREDIBLE service at the front desk. Greg at the front desk was very helpful during my stay. I am not from the area, and he recommended great places to go and was super friendly. He seems to give everyone a mood boost when they speak with him. Thank you for elevating my experience. Highly recommended
Hotel was okay for the location and value. Room appeared clean when we arrived. After returning after dinner for the night, I found a live cockroach in the bathroom. This occurred at 12am. I notified the front desk who was very apologetic but said he was unable to do anything until the manager arrived the next morning. All he was able to do was move us to a different room. The manager was not there the following morning so I left my contact info and was told I would be called the next day (Monday). Never received a call or any communication. Basically paid to be uprooted from the room in the middle of the night, and we promptly left in the morning. Disappointing experience
If I could do zero stars I would. Stayed here for about 5 hrs long enough to take a nap and a hot shower however there was no hot water not sure if other rooms had hot water but never was offered to use a different room to take a shower. I reached ou

When it comes to the traditional American-style Mexican restaurant, where you sit down and get free chips and salsa and thumb through a positively enormous menu, Lindo is one of the best in GR.
