Hampton Inn Canon City - Hotel in Cañon City - 102 McCormick Pkwy, USA

Positive: Good nights stay @ reasonable price. Nice breakfast. Comfortable beds. Negative: There was a water line leak in bathroom which we put a cup under to keep floor dry. Not a big problem.

For the price point, there are a couple of other hotels in the area that offer a better experience. Breakfast is served from 6 to 9am, which for a weekend say, I find that to be absolute nonsense as most Hampton Inns I've stayed at serve breakfast til 10 am, specially on the weekend. The breakfast food is the usual found at most of these hotels, but at this place the eggs were overcooked, and the tater tots a complete mashed mess. || Although they do a great job keeping the common areas clean, the rooms could use a bit of an update as they feel old. My room was spacious, but it lacked a couch. Bathroom needed a better cleaning and it looked just outdated and old. Water pressure and heat was fine. Also, arrived later than expected and usually these hotels have some type of vending bar, but this one only has a vending soda machine. ||My friend stayed at another franchised hotel nearby, and at the same price, he had a newer room, better breakfast. I booked this hotel thinking that it was at the standard of a Hampton Inn given the price, but maybe with more renovations and a better attention to breakfast, it could be. Currently though as of Oct 2023, I would say, book some where else.

This hotel is not what is expected of a Hampton Inn. The only good things are its location and the front desk staff. Otherwise, the hotel needs updated and the rooms are in dire need of a deep cleaning. The rugs are filthy and the bathrooms need scrubbed. There is an empty piece of furniture which used to hold a microwave and small fridge (same in both king rooms we stayed in). The rooms are dark and dingy. There are few hotel options in Canon City. If you’re coming just for the Royal Gorge, stay in Pueblo.

Staff accommodated me with early check in, I am from the area and was here for my grandmother's funeral. This has always been the only place I stay when I visit. Unfortunately I will be looking into other hotels in the future. At first glance room looked fairly clean. It was not clean by far. On floor just under the bed there was half of some kind of pill casing, a plastic cup, a jelly container, trash and lots of animal hair. The bathroom, there was urine stains all around outside of toilet (I was in this room alone, no husband this trip) and so much mystery hair in the tub I opted not to shower here, but go to my parents the next morning. They painted the brick looking path leading into hotel lobby the morning I arrived so it was closed off with caution tape. Therefore the door off to the side was left wide open for people to enter. This did not bother me until it got late into the night. My sister asked the woman at the desk if it could be closed for security purposes. We were told that she could not close it until midnight?! There is somewhat of a homeless encampment very close by and we were traveling with my young niece. (I mention this because I've been told that they have increasingly been coming inside the hotel and that there have been issues with drugs etc.) I should mention the previous night there was a man working the front desk who was much more concerned with security and secured all of the doors as they should be. The side door lock is nonfunctional. There is no security here. Sad

This place is not worth the price. I booked two nights for $235. A week before coming and canceled one night and was still charged $210 for ONE NIGHT! We I went to talk to the staff about the price considering it’s about the same price for one night, the women at the front desk was rude and very unhelpful. I would NOT RECOMMEND staying here. When I first tried to check in they gave me a dirty room, the pool had a huge chlorine tablet in the pool well it was still open, the rooms need updates. Will never stay in here again.

Not only was there no customer service my room the bed had hair on the sheets that was disgusting. The towels had yellow stains on them in the wash clause like somebody wipe their bottom with it and they didn’t bleach or wash them. And the reason why I came here was to use the hot tub in a swimming pool, and there was hair floating on top of the water and stuff at the bottom of the pool and a hot tub. It was disgusting. I always stay at health and properties I would never stay at this property again.

This older property can really use some TLC. Actually, a total refresh is in order. Only Hilton property in town, so guessing another property is called for, like maybe a TRU or a Home2Suites. On the plus side... Parking was plentiful, and there was no issue w/street noise. (The walls are thin and I could hear the sneezes of the next door neighbors) And there is a decent Chinese place for dinner a quick walk across the street. The Hampton staffers were friendly, laughing and pleasant, but of no help. There was not much they could do, really. They knew it and so did I. Lifetime Diamond a few times over, so have seen and stayed in countless of these properties all over US and other countries. Cleanliness was a big issue...from tea bags with no cover, so everyone who grabs one from the stack wil be touching the bag that goes right in your cup, to trash on the floor of the elevator. And the little exercise room...no towels, no wipes, overflowing trash bag and lots of grime. Unsavory stains on both the comforter in room, as well as on the chair. Yuck. Was it a coffee stain or tea or somethig else ?? Wallpaper peeling off wall in bathroom. Big peels. No wastebasket in room; one in bathroom only. Shower was weak, making the morning routine much longer than it needed to be. Had to stand under the weak trickle a lot longer than I wanted, just to get rinsed off. Breakfast was deficient. No bagels, no Danishes, no English muffins; your choise was min-prepackaged muffins or two varieties of bread (white and wheat) from Walmart (staffer refilled bread drawer). Only fruit was mini-oranges. The first two I picked and peeled were mushy and dark brown. Didn't make a third try. No bananas, apples, berries, melons, etc. No yogurts. Guessing this property may be en route to becoming an independent hotel or a Days Inn or something else...that would explain a lot. |

I stay here about 4 or 5 times per year because I stay exclusively at Hilton properties. My colleagues stay in springs because they don't like this location. They think I'm crazy for staying there but it's very convenient. Now this stay there were no towels in my room, no laundry bag, no soap and the hot water took 10.minutes to heat up, the desk clerk in the morning ignored me and did not speak to me. I love staying with Hilton and it is painfully evident that this location is having issues. There is also no store with convince items. I paid for double points and didn't get them. Overall a pretty bad stay.
