Location was great, within walking distance of night life and plenty of restaurants. Service was great from the front desk to the valet. Valet cost was a little high ($22 a night) but was convenient and worth it. The room was not as well maintained as it should have been. Carpet was sticky, toilet ran unless you jiggled the handle several times, wall paper was pealing in several spots, shower water pressure left much to be desired, and decor did not match. Having said that, the bed was comfortable, room did appear clean, it was quiet, and we felt safe.
Our son had a USTA tennis tournament in Winston Salem and we chose this hotel for our stay. Arrived early in-between matches, were able to get an early check in and relax. Everyone, from the front desk to valet parking, breakfast service, etc. was very friendly and competent. You could tell that the employees actually enjoy their job and take pride. The hotel was very clean, and the rooms are super comfortable. Location was very convenient for all that we needed. Could not recommend more - we definitely will come stay here again when in the area. Thank you!
The room was clean and well stocked. The beds were comfortable and the AC was cool. We had to wait a little after check-in time for the front desk to verify our room was clean. We also had an issue with the mini fridge not really being cold, it was nearly room temperature even being set at the coldest setting. The pool was just big enough to splash around and was very refreshing, if not borderline cold. The breakfast was good and had enough selection to appease different tastes. Valet parking is the only option on site, but right next door there is a parking garage for half the price; you just have to pay every time you exit.
Great location and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Near some great restaurants. Valet parking is $22. Breakfast was good. No free water bottles for silver members which is a disappointment. One of the elevators was very shaky and noisy and that was the one that opened every time except one. A family waiting with me refused to enter it because of the condition. The other elevator that I rode once was fine.
Let's break it down part by part. Stayed two days and then again for one day a week later. Two different rooms
Gym - not bad and pretty clean. Good setup for a hotel ✅
Pool - cute rectangle pool, little strong on the chlorine which is good and bad ✅
Room - rooms were pretty and cozy. ✅ Had an issue with the fridge the second time(it didn't work and had two half drunk cokes from the last people) ❌ but they replaced the fridge right away. ✅ Only bad thing about the room is poor water pressure in the showers.
Parking - it's $22 a night for "valet" parking. No self parking on property. The "" is because when leaving the first time, the car was on the top level. They handed me my keys and pointed. NICE!
Returning the second stay. There were three cars lined up in the valet. The valet took the first car and instructed us and the other car to follow him to the lower(P2) level. Park your car and bring me the keys. So I'm paying to park my own car. Not thrilled about that part.
Stayed 1 night here on our way through town. Wanted something nice, local and affordable. This hotel offered clean rooms, and a great morning breakfast. Valet parking made things upon arrival easier. Staff were very personable and willing to help with anything you need.
Room and breakfast service was great. Front desk staff, a few that we encountered, were rude and not helpful. The valet parking is pretty expensive when you add the $22 per day and all the tips to it every time you need your vehicle. They say they are pet friendly, which is why we selected them because we were traveling with our dog, but they have no dog walk area. We had to take her a few blocks down the road to a local park. Not too convenient for the late night "pee break" for our old girl. The homeless people take over the park at night and it's a little sketchy. Overall, rooms and property are great, staff and parking not so much.
This Hampton Inn is a new property located right in the heart of this small but charming city, walking distance to lots of coffee shops and other eateries. Excellent service - we arrived in the middle of the night and they were at the desk and checked us in quickly and efficiently. Clean, modern furnishings and vibe. Reasonable prices. Note that you have to pay for parking which is slightly annoying given that Winston-Salem is not exactly NYC, but what can you do.
