Hampton Inn & Suites Opelika - I-85 - Auburn Area - Featured Reviews (456)
This Hampton Inn is rather old and somewhat dated. The pool area and chairs needs work and several things in my room didn't work-easy fixes-HOWEVER I would come to this location over and over again for the service alone. Wanzalla Spencer is fabulous. I spoke to her on the phone before arrival and she was so pleasant. When I arrived she was awesome, and every time she sees me, she checks in. ABSOLUTELY awesome customer service Wanzalla.
Great experience at this hotel on a family road trip. We stopped over here for a night on the way to our final destination. The rooms were clean and spacious. The hot breakfast was good and filling. No issues and concerns to speak of. Would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend this hotel!
We are unable to come to Alabama on the weekend of our reservation, so I contacted the hotel to see if we could possibly get a refund. One person on the “chat” said I could get a refund for one night, but they needed a manager to authorize. After being disconnected once, I finally got the manager. Manager said owner of franchise was very strict and would not allow any refund. They were concerned they wouldn’t be able to resell the room (on opening football weekend). So much for goodwill and Diamond membership. Fine. We accepted that we made a mistake and selected pre-paid. Then, I attempted to add the name of someone else that will be staying in the room with us. They cannot even do that!!! I have never had such a difficult time adding a name of my guest. And, never been told they cannot make any kind of change. Be careful if you have an issue. They cannot seem to be of any assistance.
Kitchen lady was extremely rude and unprofesional. Limiting my son on how much juice he could get. Also how much coffee we could get.
One of the front ladies was also very unprofessional. While the other lady was trying g to do her job checking our huge family in, she was being very rude to her and us.

I am a diamond member- stay at Hamptons frequently for business and personal travel. My wife and I had a 5 day reservation and ended up checking out one day early and we each thought the other checked out. Realized we were charged an extra night. My wife started trying to resolve it with the manager- Karon was rude and said she needed to verify we hadn’t used our room and her security person wasn’t in. She called back when she didn’t hear back from Karon- wouldn’t return call. So I called and left msg twice. Finally Karon called back and said she would need to call corporate to verify because her security person was still out. She was reasonably pleasant with me. That was over two weeks ago. I have left four messages with the desk staff- they are all incredibly kind and helpful, and I suspect used to catching flak because their manager won’t return calls. I am done and have filed a dispute with my credit card company. It is unbelievable that she can’t return a call and there is no recourse from “Hilton Honors” because they send you straight back to the hotel. I can’t imagine how she treats non- frequent stayers if this is the response from someone who stays exclusively at Hamptons. Starting to wonder why at this point……
(-)The pool was closed. The whole place could use a deep clean. Had lots of trouble with my key card. Couldn't find the fitness center, which may or may not have a "whirlpool or hot tub," until I got turned around trying to checkout, Breakfast offerings were meh & I didn't see any "go bags" to grab on the way out of the door.
(+)Mini-mart in lobby was a new plus to me. Pet friendly. Modern lobby. Felt safe & welcome, plenty of parking, movie channels included. Several choices for food and entertainment within a short walking distance - including an AMC theater.
I do no like even giving a 1 star.. but here it is. My husband travels 4-5 days per week working. On his way home a couple weeks ago he called me late on Friday the 23rd to find him a room. They were traveling through Alabama and having trouble getting one because of an Auburn game. We usually book through Expedia, but since the rooms were booked everywhere I called instead. I finally got a single at the Hampton in Opelika, AL. I received no confirmation email.
The room was supposed to be $124.60, however they debited $384.06 from my checking. I thought some of it may be deposit and would fall off, however after a week it did not.
My husband called the General Manger, Mrs. Karon, she informed him that the price of $384.06 was correct. He said so yall are price gouging, she rudely told him that is the way the world works. He then told her that he stays at Hampton all the time but would start staying elsewhere. She then rudely told him " what's one person, we are booked solid for 2 weeks, one person is not going to hurt us".
I just placed a call to customer service about the situation and they also informed me we would not be getting a refund, as that was the price because of the special event. She would not confirm whether the GM would be reprimanded or not. As of this date I have had 4 people that were supposed to send me a confirmation/receipt email, I have yet to receive it. So from now on we will be taking our business elsewhere. We may be just one person, but Hampton will not receive any more of our business.
As an honors member, I look for Hilton name to stay. This chain was a major disappointment! We have stayed here previously, but I can assure you, this was our last visit. The kitchen staff was very rude and unprofessional. I brought it up to front desk staff and they initially offered an apology. If the kitchen staff worked for me, she would be looking for a new job. The food she prepared was terrible and I passed on everything except the coffee.
The internet never worked during our stay. The front desk staff stated it has not worked for several days, and they were informed that if anyone complained, the manager said “take some off their bill”. They did that, but since I work while traveling, FIX THE INTERNET rather than a few dollars off my bill.
Overall a major disappointment and not up to the Hilton name

We enjoyed going to the park for numerous reasons. There were age appropriate play areas for numerous age ranges, the neighborhood was quiet, the park was well kept, and the scenery was BEAUTIFUL â¤ï¸

Just what I was looking for in a chili dog. This place has maybe the best chili dog I've had. 4 generations and over 70 years. They are obviously doing something right.
