Hampton Inn & Suites Ft. Lauderdale West-Sawgrass/Tamarac, FL - Hotel in Tamarac - 5701 Madison Ave, USA

The rooms are nicely laid out and the amenities are plentiful... however, when we went to stay the night, there were tiny roaches all over the sink. It was a whole swarm of them. We spotted at least 10 in the sink area alone. The breakfast was a let down, also. We have stayed at other Hampton Inn properties that had much better breakfast. The potatoes did not have any seasoning so they tasted like nothing while the fridge did not have any chocolate milk like other Hampton Inn properties we've been to. Great area but several improvements could be made

Convenient location. Super friendly front desk. Good breakfast selection. I was on the second floor, so can’t speak to all the rooms, but I felt like an update was needed. Everything was clean and comfy but a bit outdated. Only 1 USB port in the room; the fridge was on a wall switch, so if the switch wasn’t on the fridge wasn’t working. I appreciate the mounted amenities in the shower but they were almost out of reach for me (I’m 5’), so if you have kids or are short like me, it’s not ideal. Totally met my needs for the night.

This place is filthy. This was the second time staying here and I don’t know what happened. We had adjoining rooms and we had bedbugs crawling on us in both rooms!! Middle of the night with small children. We were given a new room for the night and got our money back the next day but the damage was done. Our trip was ruined. We felt disgusting. It was a holiday week. When I went to speak to the manager for my money back he said it was the first he had heard about it. Yet I saw maintenance in the room on my way down to speak to him. They only blacked out one of the rooms the other they cleaned and were getting ready for new guests. This is why the bugs spread. This location and maybe all for that matter are horrible. For the same price we went to the Marriott for a much cleaner nicer stay.

The stay was just ok. The breakfast restaurant was the best experience for me. Only one elevator worked the entire time. The ironing board cover in the room had stains. I think guests are using the ironing boards as tables and leaving food stains. Either way, I believe the cover should have been changed. The workers at the hotel were friendly and accommodating. Especially, the front desk workers during the day-time.

My encounter with Erick at the front desk was horrible! He was very rude when I called with questions. When I asked to speak with a manger, he placed me on hold and left me there. However after calling back several times and speaking to someone else the problem was rectified. At check-in his attitude was different and I was provided with a king size room. I killed 5 roaches during my stay and the carpet on the third floor is destroyed and needs replacing quickly. Only one elevator worked my entire 11 days of staying there and my bathroom also had a urine smell to it. Breakfast was good and housekeepers cleaned the rooms regularly. Will I return yes, but I pray they get the roach problem under control because it is very uncomfortable and no one wants to pay hotel costs and deal with bugs during their stay.

DEFINITELY not 4. anything Star...The team definitely needs hospitality training.Erik and Sandra were the only two with an ounce of customer service. I took the trip with family and we had a total of 4 rooms due to close proximity to an event. One of the rooms was DISGUSTING with foul smelling pillows!!Response for a room change was meant with resistance from the staff,but ultimately the issue was resolved. Room service was appropriate the first night, but the second day left much to be desired.I would not recommend for more than a day stay...oh and only one elevator is working and it's definitely on its last leg.

Positive: the STAff was extremely nice and helpful and friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was OUTSTANDING. WHAT A VARIETY! AND PLENTIFUL. Negative: The hotel NEEDS TO BE UPDATED. MUSTY. CARPETING STAINED. THE DRAWERS IN OUR ROOM DIDN'T OPEN AND CLOSE. THE AIR IN THE ROOM AND HALLWAY SMELLED. tHE POOL was disappointing. Not enough chairs and lounges.

Great hotel. Nice people. BUT…… those Caribbean West Indian house keepers talk so loud in the morning in the hallway that I heard them in my suite and was woken up by them a few times. I went to ask them to please take customers into consideration and they said “I speak no English”. SMH
