Hampton Inn & Suites Duluth North / Mall Area - Featured Reviews (625)
Rooms were super spacious. Fitness center was also nicely sized, and totally unused while we were in there which was nice.
We were puzzled why our room was never cleaned during our stay. To be clear, when we arrived it was clean.
The next day we received new towels and the trash was emptied but the toilet paper was nearly out, so my wife went down to the lobby in the evening to get some and asked if we needed to request that housekeeping during our stay, and they indicated that it is supposed to be done without our request.
The following evening we needed to go down and get towels and a box of kleenex as it had been empty since we arrived.
The shampoo and conditioner in the shower were empty when we arrived, but we don't assume that those are going to be available so we didn't comment on them to the hotel.
It seems that the daily housecleaning service is to empty trash and stock clean towels, which isn't a deal breaker. Just kind of a hassle to back late and find out we need to run down to the front desk for something when we were ready to just go to bed. Again, if this is the expectation, they could tell us when we check in so that we can deal with it as we like. We'd stay here again as the room size was great for two adults and two teens, just next time we'd assume we are responsible for taking care of things beyond the trash and towels.
Our room wasn’t clean at all. The toilet was obviously very dirty, and the bathroom floor was disgusting. Our feet would turn black after walking around without shoes or socks on in our room. There was a half-drank soda in a cupboard underneath the tv, and there were 2 empty soda bottles underneath the couch, as well as a chocolate wrapper. There was also garbage and a Lego alongside the beds. There was mold on the shower curtain. They ended up changing the shower curtain to one that was slightly better. There was a dirty sheet left on the pullout couch.
If the room had been clean, we would have had a good experience. The front staff seemed helpful and friendly. The ladies running the breakfast did a phenomenal job. They kept the breakfast area clean and stocked at all times.
I’m writing to warn guests to think twice before staying at the Hampton Inn & Suites Duluth North Mall Area. This hotel is filled with deferred maintenance issues and deterioration of the rooms. We were travelling to search for real estate property in the Duluth area and north central Minnesota, with multiple appointments each day – we put over 3,000 miles on our rental car. We stayed two nights at this hotel in a double queen suite – using points and miles. These are the highlights of the issues we endured: black mold all over the shower curtain, tiles falling off in the bathroom and closet, microwave that quit working, broken door hinges on the cover door of the refrigerator, a refrigerator that stopped working (due to the GFI outlet being tripped) and we lost $50-$60 worth of food (lunches, dinners and precious Wisconsin cheese for gifts to others). The refrigerator tripping was a known issue (according to two staff members) and they failed to inform us. Upon notifying a staff member of the refrigerator issue we were told we needed to pull out the refrigerator and reset the GFI outlet and that we needed to talk to a manager about the problems. My husband who has a back disability pulled it out and re-hurt his back. Upon checking out, we spoke to an Assistant Manager who only offered us 10,000 points – which didn’t even begin to cover what we lost and went through. I was told the General Manager would call us and she didn’t. Upon calling to speak with the General Manager, I had to first speak with the Assistant Manager again. She informed me that the General Manager was tied up with pool issues and that everyday there are issues at this hotel. Once I got through to the General Manager she stated that she didn’t need to give us compensation despite me bringing up the Hampton Inn 100% satisfaction guarantee or you don’t have to pay for your room. She would not refund my money and hung up on me. Guests beware that you too should know before you book with this hotel that you are setting yourself up for deceitful and dishonest lodging accommodations compared to the 50+ other Hampton Inns I’ve stayed in during the last 20 years!!!!
Nice Hamton. Clean. Comfortable. Motorized, room-darkening shades in our room (I believe it was because it was an ADA room). The breakfast was normal Hampton food. Nice staff. Ten minutes uphill from Canal Patk. The only ding would be that the room was a bit humid even though the a/c was running.
Well maintained and reasonably priced. Its too far from the Duluth city center to be able to see the downtown skyline from the building. View on the opposite side isn't particularly great either. Staff is friendly and check-in / check-out process is smooth. Plenty of parking. They also offer a discount if you eat at the Texas Roadhouse opposite to the building. Super close to the Cub foods grocery store too.
I've spent a lot of nights in hiltons across the country for work. This spot is easily one of the better ones. Sure the rooms might need a renovation in a year or two but they're very well kept.
Service staff are very friendly. Breakfast is great and well monitored. Parking is great.
If you're looking for a hotel for your family, this is definitely the one.
Just wanted to mention again how great the staff at this hotel are, they really are on the ball for my stay here and it shows in just how well maintained this location is.
Fix that god awful pothole at the start of the entrance though lol!
We wanted to visit the north shore as a family and explore a bit of Duluth while we were there. Thankfully this location was far from downtown, as the whole city is pretty rough. The rooms were nice, but not exceptional. Housekeeping stopped to ask us if we wanted them to clean our room, which was a bit weird. It has free breakfast on site, and we ate there 2/3 mornings we were there. It was not great, but did the job of filling my kids before we headed out for adventures for the day. Overall, not a bad stay, but not as updated as other Hamptons we have stayed in.
By far the worst place I ever stayed. Please go somewhere else! The homeless sleep in the parking lot, and verbally attack the people who pay. The GM Prescott didn’t care. The laziest GM I met! I travel a lot. And never had a bad experience until I stayed at Hampton Inn on Mall drive! You’ve been warned!

We had an incredible stay and loved that it was in the heart of the Lincoln Park neighborhood - there were lots of shopping and breweries within close walking distance. The room itself was amazing, very spacious and stylish and we felt right at home.

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night. We're locals. This place blew us away. We were in one of their Junior Suite King Bed Bay View rooms. It's not a "fancy" hotel, but it was very clean and well maintained. It has so many little touches that show t
Wild State Cider has so many delicious options to choose from! Hands down one of my top favorite cidery. So delicious! I didn't try them but they also have a variety of THC infused beverages if that's more your thing!
