We enjoy staying at Hampton Inns because of the consistently clean and well maintained properties we find around the country. I've rated most of them 5 stars. However, the Hampton at the Historic section on Amelia Island fell short of that standard. We arrived and were unable to find parking. At check-in, we were told we could use the lot across the street. It was an unpaved lot with no lines marking parking spaces and vehicles were parking in the most unorganized manner. I was concerned about this all night. In the morning, an oversized truck was a fraction of an inch from my car leaving me no room to open my driver-side door. We carried our luggage up to our room and one of the Hampton employees was vacuuming the hallway carpet with no regard for the fact he was blocking our way. He knew we needed to pass by but kept vacuuming. How rude that was. Then the door to our room needed a lot of force just to open. I think this is because they want all doors to close completely, but this one didn't do that. We had to push it to make sure it was completely closed every time. Then there was the shower door. It would not remain stationary in its track, it would always roll to the middle position. So when we wanted it open fully, to get in, it would roll half-closed. And while in the shower, when you want it closed, it opens half way on its own. Finally, I will say the location is great. The breakfast buffet was very good ,and the other reviews complaining about trains waking them up are exaggerations. The train passed by at 7:45 when we were already up and it was not loud enough to wake us up had we been in a deep sleep. We did not use the earplugs the hotel provided. Also, that train did not rumble the room With better maintenance, this could be a great hotel, because the beautiful location in the historic district is unmatched.

A hotel with entertainment, dining, live music, and a historic harbor/waterfront less than a football field away? This hotel pulls it off! Stand on the sidewalk just outside the office and there are a plethora of restaurants and entertainment right there in view. An eclectic multitude of local stores and shops, each with their own unique flair are accessible with just a short walk of a few minutes. Right behind the hotel, just across a rail line is the harbor and waterfront with a terrific view of the sunset over the Amelia River. The location alone gives this hotel a terrific value.||Inside, the room was smaller than a lot of newer hotels I've stayed at, but the room was clean and well kept. There was one small piece of corner trim board pulled loose right next to the bed, but that was the only flaw I noticed. Breakfast was included with waffles, omelets, pastries, cereal, and fruit available along with a great view of the waterfront from the breakfast area.||Parking is quite tight and requires a parking permit from the hotel office. The drive around the hotel is VERY narrow, and the lot fills up quick. If you can't find a spot in the parking lot or along the driveway, check the gravel overflow lot UNDER the building on the back side of the hotel. There are several spots underneath building right on the ground level.||No matter if you're coming to Fernandina/Amelia Island for the shopping, the nightlife, or the beach, give this hotel a look.

If I could rate them higher than 5 I would. I had suite 213. Great rooms. Breakfast bar had everything. The hot food was prepared correctly. Very friendly staff at this location. I stayed 4 nights and all the staff had that southern hospitality going. A special Star to the people servicing the rooms. I was working on my laptop when they came to clean the room. I saw them really clean. I will definitely stay here in the future. The stores and eateries are great. We have found a new vacation spot.

We stayed at this hotel over the weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The property is beautifully decorated, and the location is spectacular. We were able to easily walk to the riverfront and dozens of restaurants & bars. ||Our room was a very well-appointed King suite on the top floor. Everything was comfortable and nice. The bed and linens felt luxurious. The only disappointment was the bathroom. It was outdated, with a standard tub and shower curtain. I expected a nice tiled walk-in shower. ||We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. There was a nice selection of food and plenty of room to accommodate the guests.||Kellie at the front desk was exceptional. In fact, every employee we encountered was helpful and friendly. |

We had an evening boat event in the area and decided to stay the night. Check-in was a breeze and the lady at the front desk was so nice! The lobby was beautiful and had a nice seating area, cozy fire place and this really cook clock in the ceiling. The room was super clean and we had an amazing view. They had ear plugs with the toiletries in the bathroom and I think it is from the train that runs by. Woke me up the next morning. Wasn't bad through, only went by twice. The breakfast was a little better than standard (but I hear typical for Hampton). The most important feature though is the location.. it is SO convenient. We could easily walk to all the different restaurants and attractions. Definitely, will be back.

We went there to celebrate my birthday and the room was awesome! A bottle of wine was there with two glasses and a very nice birthday card, waiting for us since my partner let them know that we were traveling for that special occasion. Highly recommended! Eric was so awesome and provided excellent customer service!

We always stay here when we are in the area. The location is great! You are close to everything! There are restaurants and shops, and if you're taking a cruise, you are right by the marina too! I always try to get a room with a view of the marina. Our room was very spacious. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I decided to stay at the Hampton inn Amelia Suites Amelia Island last night. First the cost was 435 a night, which we thought was outrageous, but decided to treat ourselves. First the check in was not pleasant. The front desk attendant was not friendly at all. When we arrived there was a sign stating she would return in 15 minutes and was away. When she showed up we did not get a hello, not a welcome , nothing. I had to speak first and say hello and that we had a reservation. I gave her our information and she pulled it up and handed us our keys. Second we were awoken by a very loud train whistle between 530-600 am the next morning. Which continued about every hour. This was not mentioned to us at all upon making the reservation or at the check in by the hotel front desk attendant. Third, the next morning when we went to take a shower we turned the water on to the red area and there was no hot water. We let it run for about 5 minutes and still no hot water. We called the front desk and they sent up the maintenance man who told us that the shower dial was backwards and we needed to put it on cold for it to be hot. He said they did this during refurbishing the rooms as they didn’t want to redo the shower controls because they would have had to tear out the walls. We asked him if maybe they could put a sign up so people would know. He told us that would take too much to do professional signs. My husband told him an easy handwritten sign would suffice and he just looked at us and said he has told the front desk this information. Well, our check in clerk didn’t tell us anything. We are Hilton Honors members and I can say I have stayed in less expensive Hampton Inn’s and have much better stays. Just remember the more you pay doesn’t mean it will be a better stay.

The location and service at this hotel are great, but the pictures must have been taken awhile ago, and the rooms need updating. Our room smelled of mildew from the moment we got there. I know this happens close to the ocean but this is why maintenan
