great food , nice staff a fun filled atmosphere throughout. owner loves superheros so there's are work all over really cool.
I work at the corner of Main St and Market St. I've had Gus's before and the food was really good, place was extremely dirty. I really wanted cheese fries, though! I ordered this morning around maybe 11 AM for pick up at 5:15PM but got a call around noon from a man stating that, "Well no one has ordered 8 hours before pick up and I can't promise you this ticket won't get lost. You should order at 5, not 8 hours early." My dad just had heart surgery and I needed to get out of work and back home as soon as possible so this was convenient for me as work has been crazy busy as well and I had 5 minutes to breathe... so I ordered! They ended up throwing the ticket away and told me to order later... so I went to Three Blind Mice instead and had some bomb pasta and delicious Fried Pickles. Don't think I'll be coming back here... National Coney Island is worth the extra drive on busy Hall Rd 5PM traffic when I can again rather than a 1 minute walk down the road. After reading other reviews, I am glad I did not order here and waste my money! Think I'll skip Gus's from here on out!
What a great place! Awesome atmosphere, staff is super friendly (one of the cooks came out have some lunch and he welcomed us as well) and the food was fantastic! I had a couple of coneys with cheese, onions, mustard and my wife had a Reuben. We shared some chili cheese fries. All were delicious. The decor is awesome with all kinds of DC and Marvel pictures, action figures, etc. Totally awesome. We'll be back
If you love good comfort/diner food, family-friendly customer service and Superheroes, then you need to come to Gus'. The superhero-related artwork and displays caught my eye, but I really didn't want to leave once I sat down. The wait staff is friendly and kind and they really took care of their customers. Many of them being regulars.
Gus Coney Island always has a different atmosphere which is friendly and caring. Their servants aim to please and their food is well prepared. Apparently their cooks are the boom! I would highly recommend this restaurant as I have been eating here for close to five years and always feel welcome.
Solid place. I was there as a non-local but the service was excellent, they made sure I was taken care of multiple times. Food was fresh and delicious, apologies that I forgot the photos this time. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and cheese fries. The atmosphere was nice as well, a little banter between employees and regulars. It just adds that extra layer of warmth to the place. Check it out for sure if you find yourself in the area or on jury duty across the street like I was.
Absolutely terrible. Lucky they got Simon back. Poor management. Poor attitude with the staff. Lisa behind the counter constantly argues with customers. I don't find this to be a friendly environment to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Rarely will I go there now and when I do, I always get a carry out because I don't like to be treated rudely by staff members. Not to mention the price change to the menu which hasn't been updated. That there is false advertisement within itself. I'm very saddened to see this eatery have gone down the hill.
Tried Gus Coney Island today while waiting for the parade and honestly it was the highlight of the day. (Parade was nice to, what we could see because people are so inconsiderate). My dad said the Western Omelette was the best he's had in a LONG time and trust me when I say he's a picky guy! My Pita Fajita was okay, I don't think it was anything against them, just wasn't for me. I'd definitely consider many other menu options had we been dining in. Somethings just don't taste too good as a carry out so I definitely want to go back and dine in. Atmosphere was interesting....lots of comic book characters, marvel, etc. So of your into that sort of thing than it's definitely the place for you! Overall would recommend!
