Mix of Houston flair with New Orleans food. I said it before, atmosphere is not something I really worry about. It's the food. Gumbo Jeaux's did it's thing. I had the Lemon Pepper Catfish. Catfish was done with a good lemon pepper flavor. When I say the Lemon Pepper flavor was a bit strong I mean this in a good way. Lemon pepper is a common taste but too often not done right on foods like chicken or fish. Sides were vegetables and rice. Check it out and decide for yourself.

The food was really good. I gave a 4-star rating because of the catfish. It's not farm raised catfish, wasn't expecting swai. Other than that, the rest of the food was great.

The crab and shrimp cake sandwich is literal fire! Best crab cake I’ve ever had. Beans and rice are also fantastic! Great spicy flavor! Get over here and enjoy this food quick! You won’t be disappointed!

I would recommend this location for a lunch time visit. I came by this location as a result of a recommendation from the local hotel. We walked to this location and found the restaurant with a few people already seated inside eating...a good sign since it was lunch time. We immediately located the specials and the menu. A worker at the register spoke with us about the options available. We selected our lunch items and sat at a table to wait for our order number to be called out. We received the food hot and inspected out containers to see which one is our designated meal. I selected the fish with red beans and rice. My spouse selected the chicken and sweet potato fries. Both meals were great and on time. The workers were capable and worked well to get our order out. The line cook was outside on break and inquired if everything was ok. We said yes and we were happy to see the follow up by the worker/owner/interested party.

Ordered the smothered fried catfish, and the fish was good, however the crawfish etouffee that covered it was way too salty and took over the entire flavor of the fish. The dirty rice was dry and taste old. It was a total waste of my money.

Fried catfish and gumbo, look no more. It’s delicious and fresh. The atmosphere is perfect for comfort food.

The food is freshly prepared! We ordered smothered catfish and seafood platter! The gumbo rice was so good!! The french fries that comes with the platter is on point! Catfish and shrimps were fried well! The iced tea was also nice. We are satisfied but the wait was abit longer even at 4pm! So be prepared to wait longer during lunch or dinner time! But it’s worth it!

Crawfish Etouffee not good. It didn't have enough crawfish tails in it and stock to watery. The Catfish Opelousas wasn't real Catfish that was Whiting. It was extremely thin and didn't seem like it was cooked or made fresh to order. It had been sitting under a heat lamp & the dirty rice tasted old. Because the ground meat balls were dry & hard and the mixed vegetables were old and life less. The only two things that tasted okay, were the fried shrimp on top that Whiting Catfish and the mac and cheese. So disappointed. Definitely NOT authentic Louisiana cuisine. Look at the pictures.
