Looking for a great place to take the road less traveled? Try this park, it is fantastic. Plenty of sandy trails to take a casual walk or jog and no bicycles are allowed. Look at the map photo for the relative size and circular walking paths. The reason is that there are several medium-sized mounds with either stairs or a sand-covered trail. Please note that climbing the wooden stairs in the photo is safer than descending. Dogs are welcome; restrooms and picnic tables are near the entrance gate, and there is limited parking at no charge. If crowded, you can find nearby parking on the neighboring streets.
Really nice 63-acre park with fantastic hiking trails for a neighborhood park. Can climb 250 ft. to fairly unobstructed views of the valley and foothills, or stay on flatter trails. Most hiking routes are about 1-mi, but these can be easily extended to view the full park.
Ignore the hours on Google maps: according to the park’s website, its hours are 8 am to sunset. Dogs are allowed on-leash. Many warning signs indicate that alcohol is prohibited.
As the name suggests, the park is situated in an Blue Oak and Coastal Live Oak grove (according to the Audubon society, this is one of the last remaining large oat tracts on the Santa Clara valley floor). There are also rock outcroppings and you can view an abandoned sandstone quarry. Birdwatchers may be able to spot woodpeckers and scrub-jays, among many other types of birds.
There are public restrooms but no BBQ pits or sports fields. However, the Oak Grove park borders the Martin-Fontana parks to the south, which do include open grass, a playground, and an off-leash dog park.
This Guadalupe Oak Grove Park is a little gem in Almaden. Once you get into this park, you feel you are in a different world, even though it is in the middle of residential area. There are a lot of oak trees with woodpeckers busily pecking the trees. There are two small hills that you could easily walk up to, and enjoy the view of the neighborhood and the mountains surrounding the valley.
The main entrance is on Thorntree Dr. There are 10 parking spaces inside, a restroom, and some picnic area. There is also a pedestrian entrance at the back on Vargas Dr. The southern end is connected to the Jeffrey Fontana Park and Golden Oak Way.
This is great place to hike, jog, or walk. At ground level, the sceneries are so beautiful, reminded me of the countryside. Enough trees to go around, but not too much to block out the sunlight. It's a well kept park. The surrounding neighborhoods are very clean, too. Highly recommended to visit this park.
Parking is limited, and there is one way in and out. You may also park on the street as well.
Nice place for hiking, playing, not only for kids and adults but also for pets. There is a small parking lot next to the restrooms. You may also park along the street. Several short trails to explore. There are two playgrounds, one is for kids, the other is for dogs.
Nice neighborhood park where I went to get pictures of woodpeckers. Happy to get a few good pics.
Used to walk here a lot years ago while staying with an aunt in San Jose. Some new condos have been built into the hillside, which makes the park feel a little smaller but it's still a hidden gem. There are blue birds, large families of woodpeckers, condors, hawks, swallows, sparrows and small mammals. It's a terrific place to birdwatch.
Been living in Almaden Valley for 11 years now, but not until a couple months that I started visiting the park. Much quieter than nearby Almaden Lake, and the views are spectacular! (One of the best in San Jose)

After so much of rain in winter 2023, the lake is so beautiful and full of water. Everything is blooming, the trees, plants, even weeds. Many ducks, swans, as well as several ducklings. Few sections along the trail south of Hellyer Park are still flo
Lovely playground for older kids. Has a basketball court too. Lush green grass and a little hill one can roll down. Beautiful picnic benches beneath trees. A very peaceful and pleasant spot to hang out for families and friends overall.
This has become our go-to for mountain biking in the Bay Area. Good for hikes or biking and trails are for the most part are kids friendly. You just have to be careful is blind corners for safety when the bikers are out.
The park hours of operation have changed. It is now open until 630 p.m. in the Summer! Also, a lot of new additions are complete. There is now a bathroom and other amenities that have been added to the park including a new campfire type area where p
A nice big park in San Jose with spacious free parking. Lot of chickens/roosters roaming around, varieties of fruit trees and most of them from other countries. Didn't see any peacock or sheep. Play area is under construction. Best spot for picnic.
First time visiting this park from Out of town. Beautiful lovely park for all ages. Full of little kids and older kids playground structures. The slides are fast and fun. The ground is clean and lots of wide open space to run around. Highly recommend

This is a great park in Almaden. It's pretty shaded so good park to hit up when it's a hot day, even if there is not a water feature. Two separate playgrounds, one for the older and younger kids, although the one for the Littles is pretty big and h
Dropped in to CrossFit Silicon Valley twice during the week I was in the area. Coaches and members were welcoming and engaged. I recommend giving this gym a try. I will be back the next time I am in the area.
This place is such a gem! The food is incredible, atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The pepperoni flatbread with hot honey is really something else. And after a couple visits, honestly I could say the same about everything else we've tried. The owner
My son - 12yo junior hockey player, joined VSS 2 months ago with his team mateâs recommendation. The goal was to improve the strength and speed on the ice, and I already see his progress, that proves the efficiency and effectiveness of this program
