We chose Gross Confection Bar for a Sunday night dessert and cocktail. This is a great spot for both! We split the apple crisp creme brulee, which was stellar. The wait staff were friendly and went into great detail on how each dessert was prepared and made. We both enjoyed this unique bar in the Old Port.
We had such an incredible experience at Gross! We got to sit at the chef's table in the working kitchen, meet the owner, and try many of the delicious desserts! We will definitely be back!
First time at Gross - Excellent Coffee, delicious deserts made from scratch. Gorgeous brick rooms with high ceilings. Our server was wonderful!!
Why hey dessert someplace that isn't known for it? Gross solves that for you. They do dessert really well and I would recommend stopping here after dinner. The service is excellent, it really makes a difference. If you have multiple people in your party, I would recommend getting a trio to share. The blueberry moose, pistachio financier, and chocolate cake are excellent. I particularly liked the combination of pistachio and rose cream. They have cheese, charcuterie, and after dinner drinks too.
Stopped here on a whim after passing by and it was a great choice! The bartender was so sweet and attentive. All of us got wildly different items, and each one was so special and thought out. I loved the “London Smog” cocktail, kind of has me brainstorming how to infuse vodka with earl grey tea just so I can replicate it at home! This may be more of a me thing, but the playlist was also sick. so whoever made that happen on January 13 2024 keep it up!
I didn't think I'd ever find a place to compete with Dessert Bar in Denver, but this place kicks major butt. Dessert Bar, which used to be one of my favorite places to go for dessert, is a lot more of a flashy and high class sort of spectacle, while Gross Confection Bar is more subtle and quality focused. What really truly blew my mind was the sharp aged parmesean cheese on caramel and vanilla ice cream. I have to say that at the time I considered the idea of parmesean cheese on dessert to be ridiculous, but after having this brilliant confection conception I can confidently say that I will be adding aged parmesean to every caramel inclusive desert I can. What a cool flex. The staff was super nice and helpful, and the place had all of the quiet comfort and chill of an underground basement speakeasy. If you're looking for a sweet treat in Portland, hit up Gross, or you will be sorry you missed it. Every other dessert option in Portland is gross by comparison. ;)
Had an amazing experience at Gross Confection Bar. Outside seating was very nice. Servers were very nice. The charcuterie board and the deserts were all amazing.
Absolutely the best desserts I have ever eaten. Unfortunately, now I'm not going to be satisfied with any other dessert from anywhere else. The layers of flavor were somehow both separate but also combined well. The server was so knowledgeable about the food and was also just an all around great server. The atmosphere was great, too.

Wow the best meal I've had in a long time!! Highly recommend the pea soup. The complimentary rye bread was also incredible. Got the goulash and squeezed some lemon, it was amazing.
9/30/23 - Visiting from VA was looking for Pho. When we came to order they said it wasn't in season yet and was nice enough to recommend another spot. I did go ahead and get a milk tea which was super good. I also loved the decor of the place. They s
