I had the opportunity to try out Griddle's Malt Shop in Columbia for Breakfast. I had heard good things from others, so I was eager to have the breakfast. You'll look at the pictures, and you'll think "Well, looks like a standard breakfast." Folks, the pictures do not have "taste-o-vision." And that's what you need to appreciate this food. Everything tasted "Better." That's the simplest way I can explain it. The home fries especially stand out here. When I say they were cooked perfectly, I mean PERFECTLY. I've had what I thought were home fries before, but now I've had the best. (And I'm more of a shredded potato guy.) Slight crispy on the outside, but tender potato inside. Imagine the best french fry you ever had....like that. Light white toast as I ordered it, was exactly what I ordered. Perfect. The dippy eggs were perfect, large yolk, and tasted, again, "better." And while the sausage looks like regular old patty sausage? Nope, "Better." I'm partial to maple-flavored sausage, but they have nothing on these patties. I started with the basic breakfast, but am now eager to try Some of the omelets I saw on the menu. I also have to try the lunch menu. Owned locally, really nice people. Here's the topper.....take a look at that bill: in and out for less than $10.

What a great experience visiting Griddles for the first time today. We have been wanting to go here since they opened and finally made it. Delicious food, warm and welcoming employees and lots of old time memorabilia of Columbia that decorates this nostalgic gem of a restaurant. We were very pleased. My omelette was a cheese steak omelette, that had ribeye, sweet peppers, banana peppers, onion, pickles and cheese. It was yummy! Don't knock it until you try it, I wasn't sure about having pickles and eggs together but I was very pleasantly surprised how well it worked. I want to try the Shifter Omelette or come for lunch the next time we come. My whole family enjoyed our experience here. We love supporting local businesses and it's great to see how far Columbia has come over the years. This place is definitely top on our list of places to give business to in Columbia. Great job Griddles!

It is so nice to finally experience a FRIENDLY, local spot. We are from Lancaster, and this is our new go-to spot! Tina has always gone above and beyond to ensure a perfect experience. The food is also immaculate, I have a preference for bacon/burnt, and it has always been BURNT. Food is always fresh and hot, and tastes amazing! The decor on the walls memorializes the local high school sports teams and championships. The classic jukebox is a beautiful touch. Also, don’t forget about Joe Paterno pop up in the corner. We Are!

Great food, service, and prices! By the way, best scrapple I've had on either side of the Susquehanna! And what an amazing atmosphere and decor, that transports you back into time, like a Rockwell painting would! Can't wait to go back and try the rest of their menu!!! Update 11/04/23: Went back for a late lunch and we were not disappointed! If you want to experience the best cheesteak sandwich ever, you need to ask for the Darryl's Twisted.

Wow! We happened upon this lovely place while strolling through Columbia, and then a nearby store owner suggested it - you know it’s gonna be good when the locals recommend it! Fred, Tina, & Judy welcomed us in to enjoy lunch, even though it was 10 minutes til closing time. The steak sandwich was absolutely delicious (Darryl’s Twisted Cheesesteak! Whoa!), the French fries were great (and I’m a French fry snob), and the soda was bubbly (gotta have good soda at a malt shop!). We finished our meal with some scrumptious ice cream (salted caramel pretzel for me!). We’ll definitely be making the trip back that way just to eat at Griddles again - the breakfast menu looks very tempting! :)

I had the Darryl's Twisted Cheese steak Omelet. The food was excellent and the service was great. They actually know how to properly butter toast which many places can't handle. My only complaint (and the reason for knocking off a star) was that on the listing for the omelet on the menu it says "ask for jalapeno peppers" it should "we'll charge you extra if you want jalapeno peppers"...

What a gem! The food, service and atmosphere were awesome. The staff was very friendly and loved the hometown feel. Most people that were there knew others that were eating and made it feel cozy. Will definitely eat there again!

*Just note that due to it being a smaller shoppe the indoor seating can fill up quickly during busy points* This little shoppe was definitely an amazing visit From the wonderful service, to the delicious food, to how beautiful the decorations and atmosphere was Tina was so nice and wonderful, and so was the young lady making milkshakes, and the owner (I believe he was the owner) was so friendly and charming, they spoke to us as more than just someone putting money in their pockets, they talked to us like people they've known since forever The food was amazing, grilled ham and cheese and chips And the flight of ice crean was adorable and delicious, choose 4 flavors of ice cream instead of just getting one bowl of one flavor? If you like small town friendly service, great food, and fair prices, stop in this little shoppe of wonders!

I went here with my family. Staff was friendly. Lots of awesome items. Lots of history. The highlight was the food. There's a diner in there that makes some great hotdogs. I got a couple chilidogs and a lemonade. They also had bottled coke.
