Have gone there on many solo camps. Definitely one of my more favorite State Parks to visit. Staff are always friendly and expensive helpful. Bathrooms damn near spotless!!! It’s not far from the town to get whatever you forgot on your way there 🤣. Definitely a 10/10 and would recommend. Lines gets a bit long and books up quickly so keep that in mind if you want to reserve a spot.
2015-present I’ve been here several times since I’ve been a resident of Maryland for several years. Great spot and a lovely trail around the area. The lake is nice to kayak in. There are people who swim and play in the lake here. There are bathrooms, spot to rent kayaks, grills in many locations for families to cook, people bring tents, air mattresses (to lay on inside their tents), coolers, and beach chairs. When people come out here they make a day of it with all they need. Lovely spot.
I based and planned my trip according to the reviews and reached park at 7:30am and to our surprise, no line at all. The park the beach is all to ourself:-) can’t believe…. About the beach, very beautiful, many picnic tables and kid’s playground… Love it…..
This is small little treasure of Washington county Maryland. Close to Hagerstown and also close to Frederick. Lovely park. There is a small beach here. The lake is nice and warm. Kids enjoyed it a lot. Really liked how close it is to everything. The entrance is based on state. If you have MD tags then it will cost you 3 per person. Out of state is 7 per person. Also make sure to come prepared with all you need. Once you leave you have to pay to get back in and no guarantee you will find parking. Enjoy the last days of ⛱️🌞 summer everyone.
Just got the MD State Park pass so I was eager to give the Greenbrier park a try. We visited on a Monday evening after work, post Labor Day, and we couldn't ask for a better evening. We brought a small propane grill, but next time will just pack some charcoal because there were plenty of grills available - and a hot coal dumping station which is a great touch. Quite a few bees came to sample our dinner, so next time I'll bring some herbs/scents to discourage the bees or attract them away from us. Since it was after Labor Day, we were allowed to bring our dogs which was really nice. We did a loop around the lake with a jogging stroller and our 3 month old - there were definitely a few places that were difficult to get the stroller through but it was manageable. Absolutely a beautiful park and we will definitely be back. Can't wait to get in the water to swim, it looked so peaceful.
One of the most relaxing beaches in Maryland! It's rather a small/medium beach so preferably go on a weekday when it's not crowded. This place has lots of grills, picnic tables, a concession place, white sand and water. Can't wait to go back!!
Beautiful Family Park with a manmade beach, a playground, grills for cooking, picnic tables, and a campsite. Everybody can enjoy. Lake is always so clean and beautiful to look at. This is our go-to park for a family picnic or for a peaceful walk on the trail. We have been coming here for years. It's busy on weekends, so go early.
Took a last minute trip to Greenbrier for a weekend overnight trip to see the fall colors. I was beyond impressed with the cleanliness of the campsites, ease of check in, as well as the many beautiful trails and the lake in the park. Having grown up in Frederick, I had driven past many times, but never spent the night. Can't wait to come back.

Great little park with a dam water fall. Up stream from the dam is about a mile of calm creek you can boat on and a place across the street you can rent a boat or go on longer river trips. They have added some swings that are really cool
