Greek Taverna - Montclair - Greek restaurant in Montclair - 292 Bloomfield Ave # 1, USA

We had my in-laws wedding anniversary lunch at Greek Taverna Montclair in December 2023. I highly recommend this place. The staff were amazing, delicious food, great ambiance, and hospitable staff especially Nick, Ana and Carlos. They all went above and beyond. We had kids and we had seniors in our party. It has its own parking lot and no steps, a plus for mobility issues!

What a surprise this was. From the moment we walked into the restaurant we knew that we were in for a fantastic time. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The aromas from the kitchen were inviting. The server had a humorous and attentive quality. We had two appetizers for our dinner along with the delicious warm seasoned pita they served. The cold grilled eggplant had a creaminess to it and went well with the warm pita. We chose this seafood appetizer that was like an entree enough for two people. It was cooked to perfection. Grilled shrimp, grilled calamari and grilled octopus all in a delicious oil based sauce. It was to die for. What an unbelievable dinner. We actually had room for dessert so we tried their fillo dough wrapped around some fresh melty cheese with sugar and cinnamon on top. Overall it was a fantastic meal and a top notch restaurant. Everything was perfect.

This wonderful boite in Montclair has free parking adjoining the restaurant, which is very rare in Montclair. The food was good, the prices were remarkably reasonable and the service was great. The restaurant was empty on a Saturday afternoon.

Really nice looking restaurant with tasty food but the service was very slow. We were seated right away but the waitress was busy talking to her co workers for 15-20 minutes before we were asked if we were ready to order. They definitely attempted to make up for the delay by bringing us a basket of really excellent grilled pita along with a sampling of dips. The seafood was all cooked perfectly and came out tender and delectable.

Wow!!! Excellent service, food and atmosphere. Please, if you want to eat Greek Food, this is the right place!!!. Congratulations Vanesa, she is a lovely young lady. Thanks guys!!! I recommend it 100%.

Came with my lil bro and his wife as they were visiting the NE :D There is a free parking lot next to the building, so yay. It's so hard to find free parking in Monclair downtown area, hehehe We were here on Monday MLK day. Between lunch and dinner so we had the place to ourselves. 😁 The bread they served was delicious! I had 1 piece, and when I reached for another, it was all gone... We were given 8 pieces for 4 people, and it should have been 2 pieces each! LoL GREEK STYLE CHICKEN RISOTTO - I loved it, and I remembered to tell them not to al dente LOL MOUSSAKA - hubby loved it. I thought the potatoes were undercooked... CHICKEN SOUVLAKI with PATATES PSITES STO FOURNO - lil bro loved his meal Chicken Platter - his wife liked her meal as well. The chicken wasn't too dry. Cheese Cake Baklava - As soon as I saw this on the menu, I had to try it! I love each desert individually, so it must be good. 1st bite was good, creamy, soft, and not too sweet. 2nd bite, hum little salty... 3rd bite was ok, and then everyone started to say, is it a bit salty to you? And I was like , yes, wth?! The cream cheese was well mixed in that it had a wonderfully creamy texture. But I think they mixed up the salt for the sugar??? Because it was really salty. I know cream cheese is salty, but this was extra salt... great idea poorly executed. 😢

The food was pretty alright, my concern is more so the service that my family & I received. Starting off at the parking lot, the skinny man with grayish hair assumed we weren’t eating at the restaurant and rudely told us we can’t park if we’re not eating in there. We told him we were and he didn’t seem to get that. He saw us when we came into the restaurant and there was no greeting at all or acknowledgement of our presence.

I recently visited Greek Taverna and unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory. Although the service was okay, and the food was decent, it did not justify the prices. However, the most concerning part of my visit was when my friends and I spotted a small rat scurrying across the floor of the restaurant after we had already finished our meal. this was a disgusting and unacceptable sight. Seeing a rat in a restaurant is never a pleasant experience, and it raised concerns about the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the restaurant. While I understand that rats are a common issue in many restaurants, it is the responsibility of the management to ensure that their premises are free from such problems. I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience. While the service was adequate and the food was ok, the presence of a rat in the restaurant was a major turn-off. Unfortunately we were in a harry otherwise we would’ve requested a full refund. I wish I can upload the video here but I’m attaching some pictures
