Very, very gross. My feet were totally black after walking on a damp carpet in cabin 6. I couldn't smell any mold but that carpet was dirty. I ruined a washcloth just washing the dirt off my feet before going to sleep on an extremely hard bed. Since my friend purchased the two night stay, she brought it to the owner's attention. Instead of correcting the situation, rhe owner kicked us out of BOTH reserved rooms. This place is horrible, horrible, horrible.
Nice room and very large bathroom. I liked the amish furniture and wall art. Clean. Comfortable bed. Much more charming than the average hotel. Reviews saying that the office smells bad are correct. Our room was a little stuffy when we arrived, but that was quickly corrected by opening the windows. Right across from the Laura Ingalls Wilder museum, which was unfortunately closed when we were there in April.
This is a modest but neat and pleasant motel. The room smelled fine, and as the name indicates, it was furnished with pretty Amish-style wooden furniture. The bed was comfortable, with clean linen and a colorful bed cover. The floors were clean, the bathroom was clean, we even had a whirlpool bathtub. In summary, it is a basic, yet very decent motel. We had a pleasant and comfortable stay.
We stayed at the Great River Amish Inn for one night on a visit of the Laura Ingalls Wilder museum. For this area, this is a 3 star hotel - but this is a very small town with very few options. Pros: clean and pretty comfortable beds. Refrigerator, microwave, tv, good shower. Cons: the sheets were hot and the AC is a box unit that runs the whole night. ||||Cons: the reviewer below about the smell of cat pee wasn't wrong about the check in area. The room directly next to that office, where I stayed, had whiffs of it. The owner should not be renting a room next to the office but the other rooms were fine and did not smell like it. ||||For the area, this place is fine to sleep and the rates are good. One night was enough but served the purpose. Pepin was a beautiful little lake town with great restaurants and friendly people.
Decided to take a chance on this motel for our family of 4 because it was the only room left in town that could accommodate 4 for a wedding we were attending. When we checked in, the office had a strong odor of cat pee, but our room smelled like air freshener, so we thought we’d be ok. When we returned to the room after the wedding, the air freshener scent had faded into the scent it was covering up - a strong odor of cat pee. We were in room 4 right next to the office. We turned up the air conditioner and opened the windows to let fresh air in through the night, but it didn’t help. This was easily the worst place we’ve ever stayed. In the morning, we left as soon as we could get dressed and get out of there. Couldn’t endure breathing the air any longer - even for a shower.
Gross gross gross!! The "office" smelled like cat piss and it was cluttered and had stuff all around it. The cat piss smell was so overwhelming that I couldn't stay in the office. The room was so tacky and dirty. A big cobweb hung from the ceiling. The bed was hard, the pillows were the thinnest and hardest I've ever slept on and they smelled. The blanket was thin and the quilt on the bed looked dirty. The bathtub had old dirt in it and soap scum and the shower head was dirty. Great water pressure though. The towels were small and cheap and very thin. (Only 2 provided) The bar soap was not even good.......no hair dryer provided-I had to go to the cat pee office to ask for one. There was a plunger and fly swatter provided....no phone was in the room. Don't stay here -sleep in your car if you are this desperate.
On our casual drive trip we found this motel for our over night stop. We were very pleased. The price was great for a place to rest for the night. The room was very clean, up to date and cutely decorated. The staff was very friendly. The room has a refrigerator and a microwave and some rooms have a jacuzzi tub option. We would definitely recommend.
We stayed here May 2021. Smelled horribly of cat pee! Our bed had only sheets, no blanket or quilt. Had to call the owner by phone because she did not answer the doorbell. Horrible outdated bed. Planned on staying two nights but only stayed the one. Couldn't get out of there fast enough!
Ate here for the first time today. The whole experience was fantastic! The food, service, and atmosphere are all top notch! The owner personally brought to go boxes to our table and checked on the quality of our food. If you are looking for a great b
Stopped in on our way through town in October. We sat inside with a beautiful view of the lake and fall colors. Lunch was delicious. The bloody Mary's had great flavor and spice. The fried pickle spears definitely a winner. Service was midwest kind.
