Grand View Motel - Motel in Hampton - 353 Ocean Blvd, USA

It’s crazy that this place has some of the reviews that it has. I really don’t understand. My girlfriend and I booked this place for her birthday so we could have a nice weekend at the beach. It seemed expensive but the rooms that are advertised on the website looked nice enough so whatever. It was peak season on an ocean front property so I get it I guess. However, the room we were put it was not even advertised online in the pictures so we thought we would get a nice room like was advertised. This was one of the smallest most outdated rooms I’ve ever seen. The bathroom is microscopic, the sheets weren’t clean and the whole room just felt grimy. We decided to check out a day early because neither of us slept well and it honestly just felt gross. I went to check out at maybe 10:30-11 in the morning and there was no one in the office. The be back soon sign on the door said be back at 9:45 so I’m not sure where the staff was. There were 3 older guys sitting on the deck and I asked if anyone was in the office and he said to just drop the keys in the drop and he would let “them know” whoever them is. This was all around just a bad experience and was probably not worth even half of what we paid for the two night stay. The only saving grace of any of this was that the hotel is in a decent location but other than that I really would not recommend you stay here.

The location was perfect for my play day. The owner’s schedule and mine didn’t pan out for any face to face time, but she made sure I knew everything I needed to know via text and added plenty of area recommendations as well. I also learned that, for these non-chain places that I generally prefer, it is significantly better for them if we (after finding them here) make our arrangements with them directly. ||I was glad that there were 2 beds. The one I picked first wasn’t great for my back so I switched and the other one was good. ||I was on the top floor of the building and enjoyed the view. Moonrise was perfect, sunrise was overcast. Would definitely stay here again.

So, this place was a little run down, and had a bit of a grimey feel. So it wasn't a very comfortable night, but super convenient to the beach and the strip. The front desk guy was very nice and the view was excellent. 3 stars because it cost around $260 per night, but was more of a $90 per night experience.

I have no idea how this place has the reviews that it has. I have never stayed in such a horrible place ever. In town for one night as my son has a basketball tournament 5 minutes from the property and we had to book last minute once we got his game schedule. We live 2 hours away so driving back and forth wasn't an option. We paid $240 for a place that should be charging $40 a night at best. Don't call the front desk what ever you do. The owner basically told me if I don't like it to leave, that it is an older property and ascetics are my main issue . Okay if an older property then charge older property rates. I asked if she would be refunding me if I chose to leave and the answer was no. So they wanted me to pay $240 and than move hotels as well. I get it is a popular location and right on the beach but gauging prices for a property that is 1/2 star at best is my biggest issue. At least you could say you pay for what you get. The front desk told me we charge what we can for location. ||The front door is glass with no shade or curtain to keep out light and a bedroom style lock on the knob only. So basically at first light your room will be completely bright. The stairs to the second floor are so unstable you felt like you may fall through them.|The rooms are mis-match furniture they must have picked up at yard sales and just threw in the rooms, with the hardest bed I have ever laid on. I checked for bed bugs, didn't see any but the condition and looks of the mattress were unbelievably horrible and quite scary. Thankfully I had a blanket in the car we could sleep on top of. The shower is the worse experience you will have, jump in and jump out as cool water and the shower head looks like it's been there since the 70's. Paper thin walls you will hear everything and anything (car doors, driving on the main road, anyone talking). Rundown and not well kept. Basically collecting money and not caring much about the upkeep. The heat control had a plastic box covering it that you couldn't access. I asked the front desk and he came with a screwdriver to remove the box (at least we had some heat). Even though it is June it is 40 degrees out today and very cold. Anything metal is rusted or tarnished. I was really trying to give it the benefit of the doubt but for the price and for the worse customer service I have ever hard, you just can't move past everything wrong with this place even for one night.||Oh and did I mention the staff that is on site and decided to retaliate and play loud music at midnight to teach me a lesson for complaining I guess. I contacted Expedia and because I paid the hotel directly, they basically couldn't do anything for me. They told me the hotel would not even speak with them and told them they are third party and if I wanted to talk to her than had to do so directly. The front desk was not happy I contacted Expedia either, she told me I should contact her not them. I stated I booked with them so was trying to see if I could leave and get my money back, since she was not willing to accommodate me when I spoke to her upon seeing my room and arrival.||Check-out was so uncomfortable as it's a key and no phone in room to just leave without stopping by the front desk. Passive aggressive comments and unprofessional.||I travel and travel often and have never experienced such a terrible hotel and staff in my life. Great views of the ocean but an extremely noisy location as well. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far, away. Actually RUN!!!

My husband and I booked a room here somewhat last minute for a night after camping and it was excellent! We were able to check in at 1pm which left plenty of time for us to enjoy the beach which was directly across from the motel. We got a room with a queen bed with an ocean view from our porch area that included two comfortable outdoor chairs and side table. The room was modest but clean and had everything we needed for a short getaway. Staff were very nice and accommodating. Looking forward to our next visit. Also the Lebanese takeout restaurant next door was to die for. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner there. Amazing food and couple that run it. When we checked out the next day we were easily able to slip into a public parking space right across the street to extend our beach time.

First-class attention. Very friendly and attentive. Perfect location. Very comfortable and pleasant. Recommended.

I was very pleased with this property. Staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. They personally walk out to parking lot to assist with parking. At first I was skeptical based on reviews...but honestly, my unit was very clean...even the shower walls. Yes, the furniture is dated, old even, but.... Location, location, location. Free parking and the beach is literally across the street. Would definitely stay here again and are planning our next visit.

What a cute place!! We had a really good view of the beach. The room was very clean, cozy and had a couch to relax on after a long day! The owners are incredibly friendly and super nice. They have a hose on either side of the building to wash the sand off your feet which is extremely convenient and it's a short walk from all the shops! Will stay here again for sure!!
