I have been going to Grandpa Tony's for many years. My favorite meal is their steak sandwich and onion rings. What I like most is that it always tastes the same, the bread is fresh and scumptious, and onion rings are so tasty. Of course, their sauce is right on point as well. Family owed by the Lagalos since 1962 I think. Great place to eat!
Highly disappointed this place use to be top notch back in the day, however the service was so slow today and the food came out cold and wasn’t even worth the wait we had 8 people and paid $153.00 very pricey not to mention they charged a 4% service fee because I used my debit card instead of cash HORRIBLE I just spent $153.00 @ your restaurant that’s not enough to cover the processing fee? Awful awful awful Will NOT be back! HIGHLY DISSATISFIED!
I stopped here on my way to eat somewhere else. Something about the outside screamed good food and I was not disappointed. Lasagna was top notch, salad tasted like Olive Garden. Not sure how you want to view that comment but I like OG. Service was extremely fast. Would totally go again. Price was great $12 bucks and I was stuffed!
I have frequented Grandpa Tony's for over 30 years being a BCC grad and going there after events and for special occasions. They are known for their steak sandwiches and desserts. Tonight I shared a steak sandwich supreme (grilled with sauce on the side) and baked spaghetti. The steak sandwich was very good but noticeably smaller then in the past. The baked spaghetti was not layered with light sauce and very little meat. I would not get it again. Service is good. Prices are on the higher side. Table and booth seating. Lot and street parking. I have and will return but they took a step back in the review this time. 12/24/23 I ordered take out sirloin tips and pasta along with a steak sandwich and fries for take out on a busy Christmas Eve. The sirloin tips were good but they jammed my side salad in a soup cup and didn’t add my bread basket (on the menu) to my take out. I called and they said they would get one ready for me. I went back and got two slices of bread. I asked “where's the rest of the basket with the garlic sticks and such?” He said take out only comes with bread. No apology for me having to return for my two small slices of bread. Steak sandwich was average. Thanks for being open on Christmas Eve but I won’t be back anytime soon. It’s a shame because I’ve come for years. 😢
I had the liver and onions here, when I say it tasted just like grandma used to make. It would be an understatement. Because it was better than what Grandma made. Sorry grams, the dish was served with potatoes and veggies. When it came to the table I was amazed at the size of the meal. So full after eating just half, I took the rest home and ate it for a late night snack. Wonderful place to eat, pictures of the family history on the walls. Home made goods for sale at the counter. Felt like you'd walked back in time to a family owned diner.
Love these guys! They've got me hooked on their milkshakes with all the flavors and add-ons, plus they even do malts! The fact that they do online orders for delivery just puts them over the top. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the Bay City area.
Easily the worst service we've ever had. 15 plus minute wait for everything including being greeted. Understandable if it were busy but it wasn't. Our male server was extremely inattentive and we quickly learned to prematurely ask for things so that they would arrive by the time we wanted them to. Gave us the wrong desert than what was ordered and upon getting our bill was charged more per his error. Didn't feel like waiting another 15 minutes for the server to come back around to fix the bill so just paid it and left. If we were first timers and not locals I would absolutely never come back.
Ate at Grandpa Tony's for the first time with one of my neighbors. I ordered a Reuben sandwich with fries and it was very good, just to much for me to finish so I got the rest to go. The waiter was so pleasant and wonderful for a young man. It wasn't very busy, until we got up to leave and realized it was pouring rain outside. I highly recommend Grampa Tony's if you're looking for a variety of things to eat. I will definitely stop by again.
Awesome local coffee shop! I really enjoy having in this area of Bay City. The baristas are always so friendly every time I come in. The coffee is very flavorful, and the prices are reasonable!
