I would like to l share my impressions of the beautiful academy in Downers Grove, where I was very well received in a welcoming environment conducive to the practice of Jiu Jitsu - clean, organized and disciplined. The people are friendly and at the same time show an unparalleled disposition when training. I've come from far away and I feel at home at Gracie Barra Downers Grove.

I switched from the WL location to DG because of work. Since day 1 I have felt so welcomed at DG. The professors and coaches here are amazing and really helpful, especially Coach Vince he is the best. Everyone I train with are super friendly and wants you to succeed and that combination is hard to find. If you’re thinking about doing Jiu Jitsu I would highly recommend coming to DG or any Gracie Barra location, you won’t regret it

Started training at Gracie Barra Downers Grove three months ago and have absolutely loved it. All the coaches/professors have made the experience memorable and productive. I feel like I've learned so much in the past three months and I'm excited to begin competing a couple months from now. Professor Carlos is a great teacher with a great lineage and I'm looking forward to continue learning from him.

My 14 year old son was interested in jiu jitsu and asked me if he could join. Not knowing anything about the sport, I decided we should both go and observe a class. Upon walking in, we were greeted by Coach Vince with a smile and a handshake that put to rest any anxiety my son may have had. He talked with us for a bit before he welcomed us onto the mat for the training session. After watching the training session, my son wanted to start immediately. We talked with Coach Vince some more and decided to join. We were told that, as a 14 year old, he would be enrolled in the adult class. Well, guess who else enrolled in the adult class? It has been about 2 months and we are both hooked. What started out as a little scary and out of our comfort zone has become something we both look forward to every week. Professor Carlos is a passionate instructor who treats everyone with respect and kindness. He’s always quick with a wink or a thumbs up for encouragement. Everyone, from instructors to fellow students, are supportive, friendly and helpful. There are many classes available each week which helps us attend 2-3 times per week. The studio is very well maintained and the mats are cleaned and disinfected before and after each class. I highly recommend Gracie Barra and hope my son and I can continue our journey there together for years to come.

Gracie Barra Downers Grove has world class professors and amazing coaches who are even better people. Much more than a place to learn technique and work out. You build friendships and connections to everyone you meet.

Honestly, I think this might be the best gym in the United States. Hear me out - 2 reasons. The Coaches & The students. The coaches bring the curriculum and techniques that WORK. And you get the needed camaraderie from the other students in the gym to learn not only Jiu Jitsu, but life lessons, business development, sales, woodworking, medical opinions, etc. The environment is a complete and utter melting pot of beautiful minds under one roof, with one goal. And one mission. To become the best version of themselves, and challenge the inner monologue that tells you to snooze your alarm clock.. Highly recommend you taking the first step and reaching out to them to come see for yourself.

I have been a student at Gracie Barra Downers Grove for a few months now. I initially began taking the class because a current member had invited me after hearing I wanted change, and I’m glad they did. Aside from the physical work being done, they prioritize mental strength as well. I hope Jiu Jitsu continues to grow and bring new faces from all over and that they give Gracie Barra a try!

Great energy, perfect atmosphere and pace for beginners looking to start BJJ with no prior experience. The trainers here are very friendly and uplifting. 100% would recommend these classes to anyone!
