Must see/visit. Breathtaking views of Manhattan with open fields, quiet and serene. Unbelievable unless you visit Gov Island to see for yourself. Easy ferry ride.
Although this my first visit and with a destination I will return during the summer time to enjoy the grounds. This was a 10 m. Ride on the ferry from Manhattan. Views are spectacular. There seemed to a winter village going on . But I just went to QCNY spa and enjoyed a day of relaxation.
A beautiful experience. As a Cultural Artist and creative I been visiting parts of the river to river art installations taking place in NYC. It's a remarkable experience. I actually went to governor's island for the 1st time and I was in awe how their are Artist and Creatives residing at the island...and they are all residence in a creative space for their talent to blend in full fruition .....so if your in NYC....do yourself a favor and take play in this experience. Atajà.......
This is a great place to visit with your family, especially for picnics and bonding. My son and nephews really enjoyed the slides. I enjoyed peddling a cart all over the island, and so did my husband and the boys. I look forward to camping 🏕 over night one of these days.
Very interesting place! Island full of adventures. It has a castle and the fort. Also it has a little farm and a big play ground. It has bike rentals,food court,delicious ice cream. It has an amazing views of Manhatten, New Jersey,stature of Liberty,Freedom Tower! We had a wonderful time there.
The island is simply magical, you can do everything, from visit art galleries to a picnic. Love it, love it!!
Went to the 1000 pumpkin Fall festival on the last day. Of course they're only a few pumpkins left LOL we had a great time they had a pile of leaves for the kids to jump in they had pumpkin painting and they have a bike rent place around the corner where you can rent various types of bikes. We rented a covered for seater bike which is kind of heavy going up the hills so biker beware LOL. They have some historic buildings like an old army post and an old church. Most of the buildings there dilapidated and hopefully they will be able to get some funding and fix those up. We were also quite surprised to pass a spa which has a heated pool that overlooks downtown manhattan. We were quite quite surprised. I've attached the bar code for the spa.
A few weekends ago I had the pleasure of running on this amazing island. The perfect 2mile long path for beginner or expert joggers or runners. The views that you get hear can't be best.🌞 This was a great training run for the Golden Army Fitness team.
