Pretty and quiet. I was able to find a nice bench to have some food on with my better half. It's a small area and you can walk around the "island" in no time at all.
Amazing park to walk. About 1.3 miles for a complete map. Includes a paved path, an elevated boardwalk over the marsh, and a traditional dirt walking trail through some historic rock quarries. No bikes permitted.
My only complaint is the lack of bathrooms. Sometimes that have porta-potties, sometimes they don’t.
Nice and very easy hiking with variety of scenery. You can do stroller or wheelchair for the long platform. Very long platforms over water and then forest to get to the island, then atypical woodlands surrounded by water with very interesting historic sites. Enjoyable and different environment from other parks.
My family and I loved our visit today same as always. The trail starts out paved, changes to a wood deck walkway, they to a rugged mulch path around the outer rim of the island. It also has lots of smaller paths off the main main ones that keep us coming back for more. Next time I'll remember to take a couple pictures of the wood walkway.
We went to Government Island to see the fall colors of the leaves in the area. It was my first time and I was surprised at how beautiful the trees are here.
As you can see in the pictures, there's a nicely kept guided bridge/walkway throughout the walk. Through the walkway, you can see all that there needs to see.
Towards the end, there is a massive boulder that we used for photo taking. It's pretty high so climbing up is a nice little workout. If you're afraid of heights, being at the top can be daunting.
Lastly, and I'm not sure if this is part of the park, but we randomly found painted rocks in hidden places. We left them be, but if it's part of the park grounds, it's a nice treat for kids.
I plan on returning when there's snow on the ground in the winter.
Fun place to walk, jog, bike ride, orrr....psssttt, RCing. Main concerns would be.....malaria. Ha! I kid, but seriously, wear repellent and pants in the summer, as it is mainly a swamp, and mosquitoes and other bugs paradise.
Really neat to see a historical quarry with such big influence in DC.
Short walk with some nice history surrounding it. This is very short but family friendly. Good for fishing because of the swamp area and creek around the island that can be seen from the bridge

Guest Review for Jackson
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing exceptional service at Stay Bridge, and the credit goes to an amazing front-of-house staff member, Jackson. From the moment we walked in, Jackson greeted us with warmth and profess
In my limited experience, this is exactly what a bar should be. I stopped here to burn some time, and it was a good experience. Most of the patrons are military, and I got to sit and share stories over a couple shots. Food was good sober, counter to
Very enjoyable visit, they hosted a âSnakes Aliveâ demo; providing interaction and instruction on indigenous snake identification, behavior, and more. My boys and I were invited to handle the snakes, and got to watch one eat.
Found bed bugs in my room (after sleeping in it for a few nights). Was moved to a different room but not once given an apology. Both rooms smelt musty and were not very clean. Hotel is very old looking and not well maintained. There are also minimal
I thought it was a good stay. I stayed for four days, although there were a few things that I noticed: the elevators were always being worked on and the pool wasn't open. Other than that, I thought the rooms were nice, and I recommend going to eat th
