Good Time Charlie's Bar & Cafe - American restaurant in San Antonio - 2922 Broadway, USA

I had the Charlie's Combo.. turkey, swiss, ham, and bacon on Texas toast and it was the best sandwich I've ever had!! My mom's plain cheeseburger was pretty awesome as well. Our waitress was super nice and very attentive! Thanks so much for a fantabulous meal!! I wish we lived here so I could have it every day! 😍 ~ the picture of the picture is one I took of one on the wall because it's pretty cool in my opinion... a horse standing at the counter 🤣

I was totally surprised by how wonderful my meal was!! The pork chops were seasoned exactly right, the green beans and mashed potatoes tasted like grandma’s, the gravy was the best part, and the toast was perfect!! The leftovers were so delicious I called them Second Time Charlie’s!! I will definitely go back again and again!!

I've been going to Good Time Charlie's for 35yrs. Always a Good Time at Charlie's. The food is excellent. The staff is excellent. The atmosphere is excellent. Do yourself a favor and order the Enchiladas Charlie's Style...YUM!! Fyi....Meg is the best waitress ever!!!

A San Antonio tradition. We have been going for years and always enjoy. They have the best chili dog in town and I always spruce mine up with bacon. Outstanding. My wife had their chicken fried steak which is more than a meal, but wonderful.

When I landed in San Antonio, a friend recommended this place to get a great chicken fried steak. The building has been here for decades. It was clean and quaint. The wood floor on the patio does have a slope toward the windows. Our server was prompt but not very friendly. Everyone has bad days, so I will leave it at that. The chicken fried steak was OK. It was a bit tougher than others. The breading was good but not well bonded to the steak. The gravy was less than good. Instead of a white gravy, it was yellowish, which I assume was due to having chicken bullion or some other flavoring in it. I would eat there again to try their other dishes but will look elsewhere if I am looking for a chicken fried steak.

My wife ate here many times 10+ years ago, and she remembers that because it was so good. We decided to go here for date night last week, and it did not disappoint! I enjoyed reading some of the sports articles on the walls and learning about the history of the restaurant. We both ordered the award-winning chicken fried steak. It was great! The gravy has a different taste than what I’m used to, but it was still amazing. I absolutely recommend the chicken fried steak, and next time I will try something different. I mentioned this restaurant to my parents, and they told me there was a food court in Houston, TX called Good Time Charlie’s in the 1970s. Not sure if there’s a connection?

Sorry, Charlie . First time visit , last time visit. 20 minute wait just to get in . Dirty table and chairs and floor . Almost left but had a kind young woman ask for our drink order . Took another 10 minutes to get our drinks while having a menu shoved in our hands . Got a nuts and bolts appetizer(best thing we had). Drinks were overpriced and not good . Had a chicken fried steak - okay. Tried a Mexican food dish(meatless compuesta ?). Not sure what part of Mexico it came from . Sadly , our waitress disappeared after having taken our order . Had to ask for our food and our check as we were on a schedule to go to the light show at the Botanical Gardens. So disappointing.
