Positive: The manager was exceptional! He was accommodating and compassionate. I was involved in the nasty rain storm Sunday and my car broke down. He offered me spring water and provided directions. Would definitely stay in this hotel again if passing through. Negative: Only the unavoidable traffic noise.
Front desk lady never smiled. She wasn't friendly or unfriendly, but was all business. The room had newer flooring and furniture, but was very sparse. There were no homey touches, such as table lamps. No tissues, only 2 towels and washcloths, tiny soap, no shampoo, no rugs and the floor was cold. The wall unit has a heat setting. It never got toasty warm, but it wasn't exactly cold either. Pluses were the better price, USB chargers on headboard, microwave (I smelled a burnt smell when I used it) and fridge, right at I-84 exit. It was fine for one night, but it's too sparse for a longer stay.
Great location and good staff support also super friendly and rooms are very clean and i like it very much
During my stay I found the rooms to be clean. The furniture in the room was up to date and well laid out. The bed was comfortable. All the electrical outlets worked (important when you need to recharge) and were well placed; one on each side of the bed and at the table/desk. The air-conditioning worked as did the mini fridge and television in the room. The staff were polite when I checked in. I would classify this location as a motel, which is not to take anything away from it. The parking lot, from what I could see as I arrived at night, was clean with sufficient spaces. All in all I was happy with my stay.
Booked a stay here for one night with my girlfriend. We got to our room and pulled back the sheets and right in the center where we would be sleeping there was a bloodstain. |Went back to the front office and got another room. Second room again had dirty sheets with an even larger bloodstain this time, again right in the center where we would be laying.|Asked the front desk for a refund and he said since I booked through booking.com they would be the one I would need to call. |Booking.com has been unhelpful and rude in this case with their customer service literally hanging up on me mid call. Don't stay here, and don't use booking.com
My expectations were low when I booked The Golden Hill Inn. I just wanted someplace close by downtown Danbury that was adequate. As it turns out, The Golden Hill Inn was much MORE than adequate! The grounds were quiet with ample late night parking, unlike every other motel style accommodation I've ever seen. As for the room itself, the decor looked pretty new and unworn. The styling of the room was quite inviting. The bed was clean and comfortable--and it had usb charger ports right next to the bed (I'm constantly surprised at how many hotels/motels these days don't). My ONLY problem with the room was that it did not come with an iron and an ironing board. Other than that, excellent room-- especially considering it cost significantly less than nearby accommodations. Direct access to I-84 too. I would be very pleased for my family and I to stay at The Golden Hill Inn again!
I had three great nights here! The owners put a lot of work into redecorating and refurnishing the rooms, and our limited interactions were warm and friendly. If you’re in need of an affordable place to stay in Danbury, this is the place!
Considerable less than cordial greeting upon entering the office. This was followed by being aasigned a room with no facial tissue and no hand towels that follows the Inn's pplicy. The evening / overnight was concluded with our heads buried under cheap pillows in an effort to eacape the loud traffic outside the door that prevented any meaningful lsemblance of sleep. This sight unseen reservation will tne the last for this place!
