My family and I have been going here for years. We celebrated two Christmas es and one summer vacation. The place is and feels like a very traditional country home town living. It has all the amenities you need with a cozy country at home feel. And yes, always clean. If you are looking for modern life stay, this is not the place. If you are looking for an old fashion quiet country retreat that offers a simplicity to what the surrounding is truly about, this is the place. Its simple but unique. We love it and it’s created amazing memories for my family and I. Everything is close by and easily excess-able. ❤️

Lisa, the manager, was great. She accommodated our large family reunion of 50+ people on short notice when another property didn't work out. We loved the pool, the firepit, and the outdoor seating for our group dinners. Thanks so much!

Very!!! Run down accommodations that need extensive repairs. We stayed here many years ago, but the property has not been maintained .Laundry not working. Unable to open multiple windows due to being painted shut or no screens. Multiple appliances did work. Unresponsive management. Staff friendly but unable to talk with management. Do not recommend.

We never stayed there! We had to cancel to due family emergency. I am reading other reviews and same thing happened to us. They keep charging my card even after getting a new card. We cancelled with Home2Go third party with in the time frame. We had till November 26 of 2021 to cancel at no charge and I cancelled on August 17, 2021 that was 3 months early! and they keep charging my card a year later! I am still dealing with this mess. Don't trust them. They steal your money.

We got this on a special rate. The queen bed 1 room cabin with kitchen was comfortable and cozy. I really loved how clean everything was on the inside. Bed was super comfy. But wish the windows had an option to make it dark. I also enjoyed the outdoors area they have. Would return again.

RIP OFF - STAY AWAY....Oh boy where do I begin - PLEASE BE AWARE THE BEDROOMS UPSTAIRS ARE NOT HEATED AND they do not allow you to raise the cabin temprature above 70 degrees which DOES NOT heat up the whole cabin so you will be frozen in your bedrooms, while it 30 degrees outside.||They charge $80 for cleaning fee but they do not clean or provide any quest services till you leave and also make you clean up after yourself (whats the $80 for ?). They do not provide extra toilet paper until you ask and give you one role for 5 days...||Office is supposed to be open but was closed all day even on an extrenely busy Saturday.||You can buy firewood in the office - THAT IS CLOSED FRIDAY TO SUNDAY. ||Also the photos of the cabin you book is not the same as you get.

BE AWARE IF you book through a third party site, you will be charged a different rate than what you book on those sites. They will claim it is a cleaning fee that is "added into the nightly rate." So for me it was $35 a night increase for two nights ($70). They will also claim that they emailed you the receipts at booking that overview the costs, but, at least in my case, they did not. The receipts will not list a cleaning fee, again just a change in daily rate. I am assuming they post a lower rate on 3rd party sites to attract customers, then charge them the full rate when they book, and hope they wont notice. Currently in talks with my booking site about the matter, as staff were resistant when confronted on the matter. As for the stay it was ok. Cabin 18 was cute and spacious with room for a car right out front. Bed was good but not great. For such a high "cleaning fee" I do wish things were cleaner, especially the jacuzzi tub. Also with such a high "cleaning fee," I would hope that they would check to make sure all the major facilities work, however on the first night I found that my cabin had no hot water due to the water heater pilot being out. After a long drive that evening, I was very much looking forward to that jacuzzi tub. Instead, I found myself in a cold tub desperately adding boiling water to make it at least temperate. I will give them credit, the next morning they fixed it right away, but it was sad to lose 1 of my 2 nights with that tub. All in all, if I knew the full cost at booking, I would have booked elsewhere. There were other locations in better spots with better amenities at the same real rate. I understand that the lodging business is a dog eat dog world in Big Bear, but I hope Golden Bear will try making sure their product worth their cost instead of using shady underhanded tactics.

Check in at Golden Bear Cottages was completely seamless! The front desk staff was helpful and welcoming. My family and I stayed in cabin #13 we were a large group. The cabin provided 6 beds and 3 bathrooms. Plenty of room for kids to run around and have a blast while adults while adults grilled and relaxed on the picnic tables in large fenced in patio. Kitchen included all amenities including pots, pans, dinnerware, cups and coffee. The location was 5 min drive from The Village and Big Bear Lake which was really convenient. My husband and I enjoyed the off-roading trails of Holcomb Valley only 10 mins away! We opted for a late checkout on Sunday and the owner Don was very hospitable, kind and accommodating. All in all we enjoyed our stay at Golden Bear Cottages and cannot wait to return.
