Didn't get to go in. Power was out during holiday weekend. But got pics. Beautiful place. If maps are still put in up at the front board you need some more please
Whether at the beginning of your visit or towards the end, this is a stop worth making. There are short trails on the property if you want to get out and stretch your legs. The visitor center has some great exhibits to give you a history of the area along with info about the plants and animals that are here. A nice & simple gift shop. Plenty of maps to give you a sense of all the trails and features. The staff was friendly and helpful.
My family and I always enjoy the short walk around the property surrounding the old log cabin and barn. Be cautious when visiting the cabin because, for the last two summers we've seen snakes crawling around and under the wheel chair ramp that is attached the the front porch. Nothing to be upset about, just putting that out there for those who may have little ones in tow. The visitor center is also worth a visit.. lots of information about the history of the area and early families and their way of life.
I wish we knew about this visitor center when we started our loop tour! It’s small but packed full of interesting info. We are history and geology buffs. My kids (teens) have collected junior ranger badges from all over the country. This one isn’t a big one like at a state or national park but it’s worthy of a visit for what it offers. I love it even adults get worksheets (not just the kids) so it makes my learning more interactive and impactful. The film isn’t that great but I would plan about 30-45 min to go around the other exhibits (you can spend as little as 10 min or more than an hour if you take your time and do the worksheets). They have all sorts of maps and info for hiking and camping in the area. Clean bathrooms and even if you are in a hurry, you gotta spend a min in the rocking chair in front of the picture window facing the tranquil landscape outside.
I am from TN, and in Lexington for work. Went to Google to find a hike this weekend and it led me here. It was a little less than an hour drive, so worth it. It is beautiful here. Super interesting learning center where I learned about logging, making a tunnel through a mountain and much more. Great place to be in nature.
Always great to stop by there. Great employees and a beautiful ride.
My family and I enjoyed a walk around the property surrounding the old log cabin and barn. Spring isin bloom! information about the history of the area and early families and their way of life.
A really good park visitor center with a lot of informative displays, bathrooms, and a gift shop.

We stopped here after doing a few trails at the gorge. The woman running the show was friendly. Lots of good menu options, we had a hard time picking. Went with the Philly and the Stromboli, chili cheese fries. Everything was hot and fresh, and taste
