I’ve been living in San Leon for a few years now and all the locals have mentioned how amazing Gilhooley’s is! I finally took the time to try it out myself and I was definitely not disappointed. I got the Shrimp Stick dinner option which came with 12 perfectly grilled and seasoned shrimp, toast, and two sides. The pickled green tomatoes were amazing! They balanced the saltiness of the shrimp with their sweetness and tanginess very well. The service was also great! You sit yourself and the serves take note of it and will immediately attend to you. I truly would recommend this spot to others! The prices are fair, the service is great, the atomosphere is unique, and the food is amazing.
What a surprising treat, great atmosphere and the oysters, did I mention the oysters grilled amd in various ways. Were fro WA state and they have great Oyster there, but thisnis a next level. Can't say enough good.
Outstanding I had the fried calamari, SHRIMPHOOLEYS AND THE SHRIMP ROCKAHOOLEYS. You can't be the price.
Even though it was hotter than inside my oven, the staff was awesome. The food came out quickly despite having a full house and the staff was walking around with pitchers of water ensuring everyone stayed hydrated. It was a great atmosphere with a fantastic band. I would definitely recommend and will go back when I have a chance.
Such a great place to eat and enjoy friends company. Sport good food. Waitress were very friendly and easy on the eyes. A must try if your in the area of San Leon, TX. You'll love it.
Gilhooleys is one of those secret gems. If you love oysters then this is definitely the place. Tons of frequent customers know this place as the place for the freshest oysters straight from Galveston Bay. It's 18 and up only, which is another reason why so many people love it.
I’ve been wanting to visit with them ever since Andrew Zimmern declared it the ultimate seafood dive bar. We tried the grilled oysters as I’ve never had them this way, the ceviche and the gumbo. 10/10 super fast and friendly service too.
Awesome place for oysters and other amazing seafood. I visited every spot in this area and the oysters here both raw and grilled were number 1!
