Gary's Place - Cocktail bar in Grass Valley - 158 Mill St, USA

We stopped in before and after a birthday party of a lifetime local. We enjoyed the evening until I paid our $300 tab, and they escorted us out. It’s a locals bar. Unfortunately, there isn’t enough bars in GV.

I used to love kicking it here. The pool table was generally nice. Rudy was there sometimes. I had a blast.

Fun bar. Owner is very nice. Good people! Full Monty Flatbread and Birria Tacos are next level!

This place belongs on the "Great Dive Bars of the World" list! We were staying at the Holbrooke and wandered down as it was my wife's birthday. Really fun and eclectic crowd. Damn good drinks and bartenders. The food was unexpectedly good and we had the specials which were fried green tomatoes and beer battered shrimp! It's the type of place that makes you wish you were a local!

I had such a good time here I forgot to take pictures. This is a classic gold rush town bar. Lots of televisions for sports game and a really long bar with plenty of seating. The drinks are reasonably priced and the bartenders are really friendly. When you walk in it looks like you’re in an old west bar. One thing you will notice you immediately lose cell phone service on the inside. I think this is because the ceiling tiles are made of copper which blocks out a lot of signal. In a way it’s nice not to have signal you can just focus on talking with friends and watching the football game. I highly suggest stopping in for a drink.

I've been here 6 years and this was our first time to Gary's. I was surprised how nice the folks were, even saw a close neighbor there. The food and drinks were on point. Go there for dinner, you won't be disappointed. 🌝

The Black Currant Cider is exceptional. I had a French dip, tasty, but the horseradish is very mild. We also had a flatbread. Very cheesy, very filling.

Adorable slice of lively night life! Karaoke, billiards, discounted drinks and a reasonable location in downtown Grass Valley are a few of many accommodations. Parking is usually easy to find and the bartenders are very friendly. Highly recommended!
