Garvey Inn - Inn in Monterey Park - 1040 E Garvey Ave, USA

Disgusting. Walking in and initially inspecting the room, I knew for a fact it was going to be a no. We stayed in room 304 and it was disgusting. Dirty hand smear marks all over the walls (every wall in the room and bathroom), the glass on mirrors wasn't cleaned at all and those are gross but nitpicking things. The lampshade by the bed had this HUGE stain, that they saw and intentionally hit facing the stain to the wall. You can tell they didn't mop or even sweep the floor we're disgusting. There was splatter on another lamp shade handle. And when we opened the curtains I was ready to run out of the room at that point. What looks like stabbed holes all throughout the curtain. And before anybody says anything about shadows. We saw the holes ourselves. They were holes in our curtains. Our room looked NOTHING like the photo advertisement. We left immediately, I didn't even feel it was clean enough to sit on the furniture. Telling the kid at the desk that the room was livable and that we were leaving and would be canceling our reservation through Airbnb booking he looked shocked and embarrassed when I told him about the state of the room. We were there 10 minutes before just making the 6 hour drive to go back home. Definitely ruined the trip. DO NOT BOOK! This place has comparable to a homeless shelter or a sleazy motel you pay for by the hour. Not worth $120 for lazy housekeepers and cheap owners to simply walk in and change the bedding and leave. Save yourself the trouble, it's flat out dirty here.

Traveling on a budget I decides to book this Inn. Recent reviews were extremely misleading. At first the stay was okay. You get what you pay for. Which was about 100 per night. The room was dirty but like I said get what you pay for. All was good until the last day. As we were loading our vehicle we notice someone was in the room, mind you we had not yet check out and still had some of our belongings in the room. We hurried back to the room to find an employee looking through our room! Money was missing! Trying to misdirect our attention from her being in the room and money missing she began complaining about a remote cover that was never there. She ends of leaving the room and a couple minutes later opens the door while again we are still in the room to return the missing money.

Room is definitely not cleaned and only wiped in certain areas. Walls are filled with dirt marks, if you look under the bed you’ll see it’s never been cleaned and things from past guests are left there (which is gross). When we walked in the bathroom they left the last guests old toilet paper roll did not bother to change it. Bathroom door did not lock. You can definitely tell they only want to profit and not invest on anything. During our stay we were never bothered until the very end. Some of us started taking our luggage downstairs. When I went down there some lady creepily staring asked me if we were in room … and I said yes but we’re not done and haven’t checked out yet. Couple mins later while we were organizing the luggage in the car we see someone in our room. I immediately go in there and it’s the same old lady and she’s looking through our stuff and she starts talking to me ab the controller. She had the batteries in the controller and tried to blame us for the cover that was never there in the first place. First of all who wants the back of a controller… especially when the tv is so outdated and older than me😹 She was telling me to look for it right now lol ? Tried telling her to leave we still had a lot of our stuff in our room and told her we haven’t checked out. She was just awkwardly staring at us and still kept looking on our room while we were there finally it got through to her head that she needed to leave. After that all of us started looking to see if she took anything and we noticed that she took our cash we left in there. Out of nowhere she Js opens the door and walks in without knocking. Whole experience at the end just ruined it all.

Everyone was so nice to us. We had a great time. The beds were clean, we had enough towels and toilet paper. We were impressed by their kindness ☺️ it's really cheap, probably the cheapest in L.A for 4 guests. I will recommend this place. Thank you for everything you do.

Shower curtain bar was bent making it difficult, at best, to use the shower. We couldn't find any English language TV channels (not a real big deal), and if there was a staircase (in case of fire), we didn't see it. Get what you pay for, I guess.

We had a great experience staying here! I would recommend it to anyone who needs a safe clean place to stay! The owner was awesome as well!

We stayed here because we were visiting family that lived nearby. Hotel was clean and acceptable, but only had the basics. The bathroom could use some upgrading. Our room was large compared to an average hotel (we had the 2 queen beds). Definitely is catered towards Chinese families (Chinese stations available on tv, Chinese breakfast items, in addition to your standard free hotel breakfast). Very convenient to restaurants and downtown Monterey Park. While downtown Los Angeles was half an hour away without traffic, most of the time, we planned an hour of travel time to get to where we wanted to go.

Went to Garvey Inn Hotel after booking 2 rooms on Booking.com, First My friends and I tried to check in, they said the manager is not in and made us wait 30+ minute in order to get our room, after waiting the owner/ manager was quite rude to us, but we let it go since we thought he had a bad day, later on we checked in the room and everything was quite run down, bathroom door doesn't locked and there was bugs in the room and Ciggs smell. Seeing the pictures on Booking.com it was nothing like the room we expected. After that we went out to eat dinner and came back seeing our room got robbed. There was no security and there is only one way up which is the main elevator at the check in. After checking the security feeds that was given to us a week later. They let a bunch of strangers up and open the room for them, letting them walk out with our luggage. NOT ONE ROOM BUT BOTH ROOMS!
