GameStop - Video game store in Port Richey - 8605 U.S. Hwy 19, USA

I came to this location to trade in some old Xbox’s and purchase a brand new one for my sons birthday. Upon reaching the counter I was greeted by a girl named Megan. I explained why I was there and wanted to trade the devices with cords in. She told me that because I didn’t have a controller, that wasn’t possible. I knew that was false because I read everything online with the prices and what you needed. I asked to speak to a manager and she rolled her eyes and gave a huge sigh like I am inconveniencing her. She calls the manager who’s name is Mike and he tells her that it is in fact allowed followed with a fee for not having the controller. I bring up the online trade in page on the website and show her exactly how it says “console only”, and she told me it didn’t matter, that she has to deduct $18 from each device trade in. I tell her to call her manager back, again, huge sigh and full of attitude, she puts the manager on the phone and he tells me that what is online, and what corporate says isn’t true. That they charge a “defective fee”. I repeated myself in hopes I possibly heard him wrong, and again he said corporate and the website are false!! Because it was my sons birthday and he was present at the time of this incident, I decided to handle it with corporate after my purchase. So as we begin checking out, Megan starts asking for a drivers license, sign here, and attempts to take a finger print without telling us why. Which is super weird! I asked why, and she said because Florida is a pawn state. Probably should have mentioned that before asking for personal info. Stay away from here! This is what is wrong with America, everyone wants a job, but no one wants to do the job just the bare minimum. Avoid this scam driven location!

The manager Mike was very helpful!! Made my 3 and 7 year olds days with some exclusive Pokémon cards he had in the back. All around 10/10 experience, and the best I’ve had in that store in years

A little pricey on their stuff. I spent over 30 minutes for her to check 5 games to buy from me. She bought 1 popular one for $1. Then she does the whole process on the wrong computer and starts over. To top it off she didn't have any singles. She turned to go get some when I told her quarters are fine we've held up the line, with 5 people behind me, long enough. The other woman was watching podcasts on her tablet and not offering to help anybody. I definitely won't be wasting my time going back there, no wonder why my kids let their memberships expire.

As always, they were helpful and courteous. Went to get some games with my brother and we got exactly what we were looking for. Granted I had to got to 2 different stores to find the game I wanted, but I found it and it was a great price. I usually rather shop at a local stores for most things. I try to avoid chain stores these day but when it comes to video games, the local stores are scamming people. They will sell you fake copies of rare games, or sell you defective consoles, or offer basically nothing on trade ins. Gamestop doesn't have the best prices on trade in but they are still a better option than local stores, online or pawn shops.

I purchased a copy of Modern Warfare 3 less than 24 hours ago, finally go to open it from its package and the case was busted on its side. I immediately called the store to see if they could swap it out for another copy or if they could send me to another store and was denied my request. As an avid game collector it disappoints me to be stuck with damaged merchandise that wasn't my doing.

I give this place one star simply because it's GameStop. GameStop does not carry a good selection of used games and hasn't carried a good selection of used games since 2005. To give you sense on the dollar for anything you might try to sell to them and overpriced on almost anything you could buy from them. Your way better off using amazon

12/15/23 5:30pm: We went into purchase a controller, but the employee there was visually upset. He was crying, talking about how he just broke up with his boyfriend. Very awkward situation, but we still got the controller.

Sucks that you can't buy certain items unless you are a "pro" member. Overall it's not a bad store. Wish they would hire someone a bit older but I get it it's a video game store. Just purchased the PS5 spiderman edition for my son's 16th birthday 🎂 he loved it and that's all that matters. Paid for the pro membership we will see how that works out for the next 12 months
