Quick stop. Neat to see an old one room school house. Interactive touch is nice, a recorded voice tells some history of the school and the early residents of Fruita. Fast and fun.
Very cool schoolhouse. Outside of the park. We listened to a recording at the blacksmith shop who talked about the Fruita children attending a one room school house. When we left the park we drove back to the school house assume listened to its recording. Very interesting information.
Cool educational spot to see .. listen to the actual teacher on the information plaque.. interesting ..
Right by the roadside, very little effort required to reach. Very well maintained. Parking lot is small, although I've never seen a crowed in any part of Fruita. Sure there's a lot of history to the building, but if you're reading this on Google Maps, you're not here for the history. Definitely some cool photo opportunities. The average traveller will find it underwhelming. Couple bench desks, slates, ink bottles and a heater in a tiny log cabin. Nice location, right next to the NPS visitor center.
Neat pull off and historical site, quick stop not much to see. Has some of the Fruita fruit trees at this site too.
The Old Fruita schoolhouse is a U.S. registered historical site along Highway 24 in the Fruita Valley of Capital Reef National Park. This is one-room building was constructed in 1896 and served as the community school until 1941. Today it remains in its original location and is available to be viewed from the outside by visitors to Capital Reef. There is a small carpark and information sign highlighting the history of the historic Fruita schoolhouse during its period of use. You can easily read the panel and view the historical building in 3-5 minutes, making this convenient stop for those driving through Capital Reef. Note: This schoolhouse is not far from the Fremont Petroglyphs stop. Further, for those who enjoy seeing historic buildings, you may also want to include a stop at the historic Behunin Cabin further east along Highway 24.
Can peek into the Historical schoolhouse from outside. Some audio recordings describing life in the school back then.
You can look through the windows but can’t go inside. If you’ve seen other old schoolhouses there’s no need to stop here.
This hidden gem is remarkable! It has beautiful landscapes and the views from the ranch were incredible. We had a bungalow for the weekend that came with all the amenities. Pool area, sauna, hot tubs, and gym are included as well as outdoor firepits
OMG DISSAPOINTED!!!!! Disappointed that It took me this long to try their food. It's incredibly delicious. THE BEST Mexican food I've ever tasted so far. If you are in the Capitol Reef area, you have got to come to this place. Great food, their dri
The pizza was very good! Sloppy Joe was not anything ordinary. We would skip it if you're thinking about getting it. The meat ball sub was very good! There is seats inside or outside. Beers are available and music. It is family friendly.
This place was absolutely perfect for me. The room was clean and nicely decorated. I thought the curtains to close off bathroom area is a classy touch. The hot tub was fabulous, the gym looked nice although I didnât find time to use it. The ONLY is
The hospitality was amazing. We got in the doors thirty minutes before closing and they welcomed us in happily. We were traveling a long time and were starving and were happy to get a warm meal. The server was super friendly. The food options were ta
Several friends and I stayed at this hotel with a yoga group last weekend and can't say enough good things about our stay. The staff were amazing (especially Dakota). The hotel and rooms are clean and well maintained. We were very comfortable and
We stayed here during the off season to visit the park. This was an easy place to drive back and forth from. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. There was not a lot for food options being off-season but we had a microwave and refrigerator in
