Stumbled upon this gem on South 1st and was able to try a variety of fresh samples. As a plant based eater, I was blown away at the creativity given to the menu. The Campfire Chili is hands down the best chili I’ve tasted. The owner Aaron was very welcoming and educated me on Scarlett Runner Beans as well as the health benefits of the recipes. This will be an Austin staple for our family!

Great new food joint off of South 1st. They’re doing an heirloom bean based menu which I’ve never seen before and I’m really glad we stopped by to check it out! I tried the Pinto Bean Paté and the 1776. Both were good but the 1776 surprised me with a hint of sweetness and some chocolate notes. Very reminiscent of high quality chili. They’ve also got both dairy and plant based options for the sour cream and cheese toppings, which most places don’t have. The bean shaped chips were a nice touch 😊👍 I’d highly recommend Frijole to anyone!
Frijole is amazing! The food is a delicious and eclectic mix of flavors that are delivered in each bite. I purchased more food than I could eat in one sitting. Even reheated it is amazing! I live north but will be frequenting Frijole regularly for the good food and the chill vibe.
We had 2 Brunch on the Nile, 1 Pinto Pate & 1 Campfire Chili with my husband and 10 month baby, all whole food plant based/vegan. So good! Even our baby loved everything too! AMAZING food and experience!
So dang good! I’m not even much of bean person but these recipes are unique and delicious. I got the campfire taco and the 1776 taco. Both were a chef’s kiss! And Aaron is so exited to share his creations with you; what’s in each blend, what inspired it, etc. A lovely food truck experience from beginning to end. I’ll be back for sure.
Also. I’m a meat eater but this place is also completely vegetarian friendly. And to my vegans - some easy swaps can make any of the dishes vegan.
The Frijole Bean tacos are my new favorite lunch spot! It is very flavorful and tastes clean and fresh, not greasy at all. And the speed of food is very fast, you won’t spend extra time waiting for your lunch. Strongly recommend to people who want a healthy taco option in south Austin!
Wow! These are the best beans I have had in so long! We got several order of beans and some tacos and they were all so delicious! My family and I definitely will be back. The owner was really nice to explain the different beans he uses in his dishes. Definitely coming back!
