We moved to the area almost a year ago and my son had been wanting to train for jiu jitsu. I reached out to my co-worker, Jim Curran, who is a coach at Midwest Jiu Jitsu and he recommended Frequency Martial Arts. I signed my son up for the Stranger Danger workshop and he loved it. We signed up for classes that same day. Frequency has helped my son grow in so many ways. He is more social, better at listening, and more respectful. Jiu jitsu at Frequency has brought him out of his shell. He absolutely loves training and looks forward to each class. The coaches are so patient and understanding. We are so glad that we chose Frequency Martial Arts. Thank you for all that you do for son, I really appreciate it!
Absolutely amazing gym. There is such a supportive and constructive environment, and all the coaches are wonderful. I’m so glad I chose Frequency to start my jiujitsu journey!!
An amazing school! They pride themselves in keeping a clean safe school to learn and grow. They offer so many classes throughout the week it will fit anyones schedule and you get to train as much as you want. I have been training jui jitsu for about 2.5 years and have been at frequency for about 7 months. The atmosphere has been very welcoming and like a second home to me. I train almost everyday and sometimes multiple times a day. Jui Jitsu has given me something to keep me motivated when work and home life has been stressful. I couldn’t recommend frequency and jui jitsu in general enough.
Had the opportunity to train at @frequencymartialarts in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. Incredibly well kept and CLEAN facility with a fantastic Instructor, Coach Ed, and equally awesome group of training partners. 10/10 would recommend! 🤙 I hope to return some day in the future.
A family more than anything. The coaches are extremely involved and attentive to each student and their needs. They include everyone in the class at all times. I am so grateful that my son has joined the team!
Frequency is a great place to train with highly knowledgeable coaches and a welcoming atmosphere for beginners and seasoned martial artists alike.
Great coaches--engaging, good instruction and encouragement, and high coach to student ratio. My 8 year old is really enjoying himself.
This is a great place to have your child train Jiu Jitsu. Coach Ed, Coach April, and Coach John are great with the kids. They engage with the kids and are patient with them. There is the right balance of fun and seriousness with the classes. They make sure the kids are being safe when performing the moves and make sure the moves are done right along with the kids being good teammates. Coach Ed has created a positive and welcoming environment. You can see that by the way the kids carry themselves and properly engage with the other kids and coaches.
As much as I love seeing my son improve in Jiu Jitsu the biggest improvement is what I've seen at home. My son was very difficult in certain areas and I knew he needed something like Jiu Jitsu. One of my favorite things Coach Ed does is how he makes Jiu Jitsu a lifestyle. It is not only important to act right while training but also at home and school. That has created the biggest change in my son. The kids have a job list that they can turn in every month which helps keep them accountable at home. The first few months we saw small changes but now after 8 months I can see big changes at home. He is sleeping through the night, bedtime is easier, he is calmer and nicer to his little brother, has more control over his emotions, listens better, gaining confidence, and the list goes on. Another great thing I've seen since he started is the positive impact of going to class after a rough day at school. He leaves with a smile after engaging with the kids along with the coaches and just doing Jiu Jitsu. I use to have to ask if he wanted to go to class now he asks me if we can go. I have nothing but positive things to say.
