Fourwinds Lakeside Inn & Marina - Inn in Bloomington - 9301 S Fairfax Rd, USA

I came with my family to this hotel for two nights because my son was moving into his dorm at Indiana University. The hotel is on a scenic lake with boats and a nice pool overlooking the lake. Beautiful. But the hotel is dirty. Over my two day stay, I saw no cleaning staff. When I asked the front desk person, he said that the cleaning staff had just quit. so hopefully this is only a temporary setback. An otherwise nice hotel, with reasonably comfortable rooms, and only 13 miles to Indiana university.

I called right before making the reservation to make sure all their facilities were open - specifically their pool - which is prominently featured on their website. It was really important as I was traveling with little kids that can't quite take advantage of the lake. Resort assured me it was open. So a few days later I show up and of course the pool is closed, with no one having any clue when it's opening. They told me if it's still closed the next day I could leave a day early and they wouldn't charge me for a second night. So the next day the pool is still closed and I checked out around noon, making sure the front desk person was aware of what I was doing since it was now a different person at the desk. She said she couldn't process a refund for the second night but a manager would call me. No manager calls. They have since been unresponsive to multiple emails. I've called and they kept transferring me from front desk, to an Accountant, and then to the manager - who is again supposedly away and won't return a call. So they effectively stole $400 for a night I was not at the resort after telling me I could leave a day early and they'd refund me. The lake itself is very nice. The resort is dirty and outdated. Crumbs all over my room, crumbs in the restaurant even though we were the first ones there for the day. Common trash cans overflowing from the weekend even though it's Wednesday and basically no one is there.

We stayed in a deluxe suite and had an adjoining double room. There was plenty of space for our family of 5. We really liked having the kitchen space and a large refrigerator. The balcony was awesome and we really enjoyed the beautiful lake view! We also enjoyed having dinner at the onsite restaurant. The food was delicious. The hotel is so charming!

I would give them a -10 stars if I could. It was the most disappointing stay we have ever had. Not worth the money we were charged. Don't try and check in before hand, they will charge you even though the rooms are ready to go. The rooms look ok, No coffee cups, I am guessing you couldn't afford full size pillows? We had couch size pillows on our bed. The water from the A/C Units above us where running down off the patios on us. The A/C did not keep the rooms cool consistently. There was an infestation of ants going up and down the walls outside. Not sure how this is a pet free property- Can you explain why there were fleas(The grass was consumed with them) and dogs everywhere? I would have brought my dog but they said we couldn't have dogs. We were completely blown away when we got our rented Pontoon boat that there were spider webs everywhere along with the spiders that made those webs. The speedometer didn't work, the ladder was bent and broke, I cut my foot on it. The radio didn't work. Guess they do any maintenance on these! The food was the worst I could possibly imagine. We had 6 people and ordered all different food and they only thing that was close to being eatable was the burger. We were all sick that night. They even screwed up the Pina Coladas! How is that possible. We ended up ordering pizza delivery the next day just to be able to eat. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE-STAY AWAY!

I want to love this hotel, but it’s just not up to the price you pay to stay. The beach is nice, but it could use some new chairs and fixing of the umbrellas or even just a good wipe down of chairs. Pool was ok, dirty, it needed a good clean as well but the area is nice. The gym is good. Our room was ok,dusty with some cobwebs. Patio was dirty and needed to be swept. The food was subpar at best. $15 for a “buffet” for breakfast which was what you would get for free at most chain hotels. The windjammer food was similar to what you’d get at a gas station. It’s a shame because the location is great. With some elbow grease and a decent restaurant it could be really nice.

So disappointing! Our whole family booked rooms for the 4th. Our room was ok, but the ac unit smelled horrible. Like urine. My brother checked in to find his toilet, shall we say, used. My daughter's room had no water pressure, room was dirty, coffee pot did not work and shower drained so slowly there was 2 inches of water standing. She has 2 children so that was not comfortable at all. We were required to book 3 nights due to the holiday and 2 of 4 families left early. For the price we paid, everything should have been so much better. Last. We all had to chase down maids to get clean towels and toilet paper each day. Not blaming the maids as they were most likely overworked and underpaid. We ate once in the restaurant and service was good, but food just average, not hot. Parking was horrendous. If you moved your car, you had to walk forever to get back. All in all, NOT a good experience.. will not stay again at any price. By the way, there was no survey and front desk did not inquire about our satisfaction when checking out.

The location is beautiful. Rooms are not very clean. We had a wasp nest on our patio. Ants galore in the kitchen. But worst of all is the horrible Assistant General Manager, Jess. She has no clue on how to make sure guests have a great stay. Obvious to everyone that she has all her local friends there on the patio by DJ that no actual guests can find a place to sit. She yelled at various guests for nothing.

We have been boating on Monroe for decades and love the lake! Unfortunately this establishment is AWFUL. Poor customer service, horrible food, dirty rooms, and just plain terrible hotel for such a lovely lake. I called to speak with the manager to share my experience and did not receive a call back. Poor management for sure….
