This is a budget friendly 1960s style fmotel, which would make a fantastic location for a movie of that era, if a location director were looking to find such a place. As for our stay, we were warmly welcomed and shown to a very clean, but equally very retro room. The room had a fridge and a TV with a variety of channels, A/C and plenty of hot water. We had a comfortable night’s sleep and were warmly sent back on our way. Not exactly luxurious, but not expensive either. We were happy to have stayed there.
The hosts went above and beyond with hospitality. They got up an hour early to make sure that we had coffee and access to microwave in the lobby before our early departure. All the other guests were kind and friendly and we enjoyed the outdoor chairs for every room. Very nice atmosphere at this place-- rooms are simple and very clean.
Just like Colin said in his review, this would have been a primo place to stay 50 years ago which coincidentally is when I last visited this area. During the short summer season, modern 4-5 star places will cost you double of what you'll pay for this two star place. But we were only staying overnight and didn't need any place fancy so we were content to stay here. The room was clean (although a bit stuffy), and the staff were friendly and helpful. It has free parking, free WiFi and even a pool. It was just right for us for a night.

The owners are the nicest people you will ever meet! Harry and his lovely daughter went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful! The place was sparkling, clean and well-maintained! The pride in their business is evident! Highly recommend! For you hikers out there, this is a great place to stay! it was a five minute drive to Zealand trail head. After hiking the Bonds, the Twins and Galehead and staying at the Galehead hut we came down the Gale River trail. Took a right at the trail head to a right on Haystack Road… A gravel road that turns into a trail through the woods that came out on Route three about 1 mile from the hotel…. a beautiful walk and the last 2/3 and easy trek through the woods… And a bit on route 3. 10 miles from the hut to the Four Seasons.
Rented 2 rooms that were adjoining which was extremely helpful with a 3 year old. Rooms were clean, lots of room, office lady was very hospitable, doing what they can to make stay pleasurable. They had a small playground and a pool which was very nice. I definitely would stay there again if I was to be in that area.
Bedbugs!
It's a truly terrifying and nightmarish ordeal. The sensation of things crawling on your skin in the middle of the night is an experience no one should have to endure. The young couple who owned the place kindly moved us to another room, but to our dismay, we discovered bedbugs once again when we pulled back the bed sheets. As we began searching behind furniture, under the bed, and along the walls, it became painfully evident that this place desperately needed a thorough cleaning and better maintenance.
It's true that even 5-star hotels can have encounters with bedbugs, but it's a fact that dirty environments tend to keep them in.
In a panic, we hastily packed our belongings into plastic bags and left the place. Trying to find another hotel in the middle of the night after a grueling 10-hour motorcycle trip is an experience nobody wants to go through. The most disheartening part is that we genuinely liked the owners, and it pains me to write this negative review. However, it's difficult to believe that they were unaware of the widespread bedbug infestation in their hotel.
They did refund us the following day, but that compensation doesn't begin to cover the damage caused to our gear and equipment, which we had to throw in the dryer in the hopes of preventing those pests from infesting our homes.
FYI, To ensure the well-being of future guests and to be fair towards the hotel owner, I took the initiative to reach out to them before sharing this review. I requested any evidence of them engaging a professional pest control service, this aiming to prevent similar incidents.
Regrettably, my request was declined.
We stayed here to go to Mount Washington Cog Railway to take the train to the summit.
The location was good for this purpose as the train station is about 15 minutes away. It is a remote area so some of the restaurants were not open for dinner as it was not peak season for skiing or snowmobiling.
The Inn is on a main road and easy to find. It is very dated. The website is vague about room amenities. There was a small refrigerator but no coffee maker or microwave. There is free coffee in the morning outside the office door. The hair dryer did not work. The bath ceiling was damaged from what appeared to be water leaks from the 2nd floor.
We were looking for an inexpensive room for one night of our adventure and we got what we paid for.
