Four Points by Sheraton Asheville Downtown - Featured Reviews (1170)
We decided relatively last minute to head up to Asheville for a quick overnight to meet some local friends for dinner. ||The price was right ($101 plus taxes - a AAA rate) and the location excellent, right off the 240 and adamant to downtown, where we met our friends for dinner, so I booked it. ||Parking was free as well, a great benefit at any downtown hotel. The check in experience was pleasant enough and the room at first glance fine. ||As Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite members we had a choice of bonus points or complimentary breakfast for 2 so we chose the breakfast as we’d read it was a nice buffet. ||My spouse wasn’t feeling great this morning so he chose to stay in the room and I was surprised that they wouldn’t let me take anything to go (as an aside, the local Rotary club was also meeting in half the restaurant and I frankly didn’t want to sit there with the sound from their meeting spilling over), so I declined and took my voucher to the front desk and asked to have points instead. Hopefully they post! ||The ventilation duct in the bathroom needs cleaning and parts of the wallpaper are bubbling and peeling but overall the place is fine and worked well for our purposes. ||Would we stay here again? Probably not. There are other nicer Marriott properties just up the hill, a Renaissance, a relatively new AC, and an Aloft, so I think we’ll check one of them out next time.
Great location, comfortable rooms, and free parking … who could ask for more? I’ll add amazing customer service. We were attending a concert at the Harrah’s Cherokee Center. After the concert it was less than a 15 minute walk back to our room. It is an older hotel but well cared for. We booked the breakfast with our room and it was great benefit. If we go to another event in downtown Asheville this is where we will stay!
The hotel and rooms are very dated. The price you pay for the hotel is simply for the location. Purchase the hotel with the breakfast option and that was very poor at best. The only saving grace for breakfast were the chocolate scones and the fresh fruits. Otherwise it was very basic.
We return to our room in the afternoon to take a nap and the room had a terrible smell. Wall lights were all rusted. Bathroom wall had hole. Light didn't work.
Again, the purpose and price for this hotel is simply the location and the free parking. Don't expect much. Gym is very small and dated.
I will say that the night staff were very pleasant and very friendly! They were very nice when we came in and they deserve a big kudos.
Within walking distance of everything in downtown Asheville. Clean and decent. Very friendly staff from front desk to housekeeping. Free parking and a restaurant on site that is open late. Great alternative to the pricey hotels in downtown if you don’t mind the dated decor.
The shower and sink were clogged. The TV never worked. I was quoted a price of $119./night but 2nd night was 50% more. This hotel is past its prime and not quite the bargain it seems. Management and Guest Services were ineffective and patronizing.|Buyer beware!
The Four Points Sheraton is a good option if you want a hotel in downtown Asheville. The rooms are spacious and very nice inside.
Unfortunately the downside to this hotel is the very thin walls. You can hear the neighbors right next to you watching TV or talking and there was a dog that barked all day and multiple times throughout the night. The staff were aware of it because housekeeping was on the floor at the time the dog was barking. I was especially disappointed about the dog situation because at check in I was told I was going to be put on a pet-free floor since I have an allergy. The pool is also drained and the volleyball court is overgrown with grass.
Overall, this hotel has an amazing location, very nice and kind staff, and the free parking is a huge perk. Unfortunately the lack of other amenities and the pets brought the experience down for me.
Honestly the worst experience I’ve ever had staying at a hotel. I’ve been charged three times for a room i stayed in four weeks ago. First i was told they would place a $50 hold for the “deposit” they ended up charging me for the entire room and i didn’t get that money back almost two weeks after checking out. Fast forward two more weeks they charged me for the whole entire room again. I call and i was told “they never received a payment” so why wouldn’t they have kept the deposit? i called my credit card company and they told me someone manually entered my card information for a room. The front desk employees were so rude and so unprofessional. She stated all she needs is a “payment” and nothing else from me. I will never stay here again nor give four points my business again. RIDICULOUS
Check in was smooth. That’s about it. Booked room through Expedia and it was still a very poor value given the room came to over $270 after fees for a single night. Our room was loud, the fire alarm went off because of how humid it’d get in the room from a shower and the air conditioning being on. Fire alarm was also hanging from the ceiling so I doubt I’m the only one who has experienced that. Trim piece that separated the hard flooring from the carpeting was lifting up so it was easy to trip over. Toilet would making a whistling noise through random periods even when it hadn’t been flushed in hours. During check out, the desk manager guilt tripped me into giving back both room keys despite no hotel having ever asked for both back and we usually try to keep one for keepsake purposes.
This was actually my second time staying here and I don’t remember it feeling so crummy that first time. Just an overall disappointment and didn’t help my experience of the city. Will certainly be my last time staying here.
